Role Description The ICN Incharge (Infection Control Nurse Incharge) is a full time, on-site role based at Amaltas University Dewas. The role involves planning, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention and control practices across clinical and allied healthcare settings associated with the university. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting regular surveillance of healthcare-associated infections, auditing compliance with hygiene and sterilization protocols, and coordinating with medical, nursing, and support staff to ensure adherence to infection control guidelines.
The ICN Incharge will develop and update infection control policies, organize training and awareness programs, maintain accurate documentation and reporting, and support quality improvement initiatives related to safety and infection prevention. Collaboration with hospital administration and academic leadership is required to align infection control activities with regulatory standards and institutional objectives.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing or GNM with specialized training or relevant experience in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC),
along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital with at least 900 beds, including relevant experience in infection control and preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in hospital infection control, clinical auditing, or quality and patient safety programs in a healthcare or academic medical setting.
- Knowledge of national and international infection control guidelines, sterilization techniques, biomedical waste management, and outbreak management.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and reporting skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to train staff, conduct awareness programs, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work on-site in Dewas, demonstrate professional ethics, and maintain confidentiality and patient safety standards.
- Familiarity with basic computer applications, data entry, and use of electronic records for infection surveillance and reporting.
- Certification or additional coursework in infection control, public health, or healthcare quality is an added advantage.
