We are looking for an HCL Commerce V9 Techno-Functional Consultant to support a B2B commerce platform moving from WebSphere Commerce V8 to HCL Commerce V9. The role bridges business process understanding and hands-on technical depth. You will help assess the existing V8 implementation, classify customizations, map current functionality to V9 capabilities, and carry that analysis into the migration and implementation phases.

You will work closely with the Solution Architect, Business Analyst/PM, DBA, and client business and IT stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Functional

Run discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews to understand current B2B business processes, including catalog, pricing, contracts, entitlements, organizations, buyer approvals, and order flows.

Document current-state functional behavior and map it to out-of-the-box HCL Commerce V9 features, identifying where custom code can be replaced by standard capability.

Contribute to the V8 to V9 gap matrix at the component level, highlighting functional gaps and required work.

Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for the implementation phase.

Support Management Center configuration and business user enablement on V9.

Technical

Review custom Java/EJB code, commands, controllers, data beans, services, and scheduled jobs in the existing WCS V8 codebase.

Build and maintain a customization inventory with Reuse / Refactor / Redevelop / Replace / Retire classification and supporting rationale.

Assess storefront architecture and customizations and recommend the V9 storefront approach.

Analyze integrations with ERP, OMS, PIM, CRM, payment, tax, shipping,



and middleware systems across SOAP/REST services and batch interfaces, capturing direction, frequency, data, and criticality.

Evaluate the current Solr search implementation, indexing processes, and custom search logic, and map them to HCL Commerce V9 Search.

Identify direct database access from custom code and work with the DBA on custom tables, stored procedures, and data migration needs.

Assess current WAS topology and CI/CD processes for readiness toward a Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift deployment model.

Provide input to the target V9 architecture, migration strategy, phasing, and effort estimates.

Maintain risks, dependencies, and assumptions relevant to migration.

Required Skills and Experience

6+ years of hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere Commerce (V7/V8) and HCL Commerce V9.

At least one completed WCS to HCL Commerce V9 migration or major V9 implementation.

Strong B2B commerce functional knowledge: contracts, entitlements, price lists, organizations, approvals, and account management.

Solid Java/J2EE skills with deep understanding of the WCS/HCL Commerce programming model (commands, data beans, BOD/SOI services, REST handlers, scheduler).

Working knowledge of HCL Commerce V9 architecture, including containerized deployment, Transaction server, Search server, Store server, and Liberty.

Experience with Solr-based search and familiarity with HCL Commerce V9 Search (Elasticsearch-based search is a plus).

Integration experience with ERP/OMS systems using SOAP, REST, messaging, and batch interfaces.

Valuable SQL skills on DB2 or Oracle, including understanding of the Commerce data model and Data Load utility.

Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, or Azure DevOps.

Ability to produce clear assessment documentation, gap analyses, and specifications.

Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with US-based client stakeholders
