Logistics and Inventory Control?Leadership30What KRAs/KPIs would you assign to Procurement Managers and Stores Managers?Team management For assessment of Candidate a practical case study:
I would strongly recommend spending 1520 minutes on a case study, because an experienced SCM Head should be able to connect supply chain decisions with cash flow.
Case: A 40 crore project will run for 36 months. Material procurement is approximately 24 crore. Customer payment is received in 60 days, vendors provide 90 days' credit, retention is 5%, material prices may increase by 810%, and management does not want excess material dumped at site.
Ask the candidate
Prepare your SCM strategy for this project. Explain how you would plan procurement, negotiate vendors, schedule material, control site inventory, manage price escalation and coordinate with Finance so that working-capital requirements remain under control.
Then challenge the answer: If the project team suddenly asks for 2 crore of material but Finance has only 75 lakh available, what will you do?
A robust SCM Head should talk about critical-path material, available stock, billing conversion, vendor credit, staggered delivery, alternate vendors, price locking/rate contracts, inventory ageing and cash-flow prioritisation rather than simply saying they will escalate to management.

For Aegis specifically, We should consider BOQ-to-stock-to-procurement control, site inventory, WIP/billing conversion, vendor credit and working-capital management mandatory areas in the interview rather than treating the SCM Head as only a purchasing role.
