Position Overview

Suzlons Asset Management Services operates and maintains one of the largest utility-scale wind turbine fleets in India and globally. As we advance our Suzlon 2.0 vision toward integrated renewable energy solutions, maximizing fleet availability, reliability, and lifecycle performance remains paramount.

The Head Technical will lead the central engineering, technology, and technical governance functions for the Asset Management Services (AMS) business. This senior leader will drive engineering strategies, digital transformation, failure analysis, and maintenance engineering practices to maintain fleet health, drive operational efficiencies, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

- Engineering Strategy & Governance: Define and execute the long-term engineering and technology roadmap for the AMS business. Formulate and enforce key technical policies, guidelines, operating procedures, and technical governance systems across all operating sites.
- Fleet Health & Reliability: Continuously monitor and preserve overall fleet health. Establish engineering solutions for major component life extensions, performance optimization, and reliability enhancements.
- Maintenance Engineering Guidance: Provide technical guidance and operational frameworks for Preventive Maintenance, Breakdown Maintenance, and Corrective Maintenance activities. Design, evaluate, and develop engineering solutions for complex corrective maintenance actions.
- RCA & Customer Technical Governance: Lead technical engagements with IPP, PSU, C&I;, and retail customers regarding asset performance. Spearhead deep-dive failure investigations, Root Cause Analyses (RCA), and deliver corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans for recurring or critical technical issues.
- Predictive Maintenance Governance & Quality: Annual and periodic tracking of anomalies and closures against scheduled turnaround times, complete with post-intervention QA / QC signoffs and Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).
- Digital Systems & SCADA Management: Oversee and manage engineering systems, including fleet-wide SCADA platforms,



condition monitoring systems (CMS), and forecasting/scheduling tools. Direct IT systems, tools, and digital applications that support engineering operations and predictive maintenance workflows.
- Supply Chain & Strategic Vendor Development: Identify, evaluate, and develop strategic vendors for critical materials, alternative spares, component refurbishments, and specialized technical services.
- Budgetary & Financial Control: Formulate, track, and manage the annual Engineering and Technical operational and capital expenditure budgets.
- Team Leadership & Capability Building: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Engineering & Technology organization within AMS, fostering continuous technical upskilling and a safety-first operational culture.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Fleet Availability & Generation:
- Machine Availability (MA) & Grid Availability.
- Reduction of generation losses attributable to engineering and technical breakdowns.
- Asset Health & Reliability Metrics:
- Improvement in Mean Time Between Failures and reduction in Mean Time to Repair for critical subsystems.
- 100% on-time closure of Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA) implementations within stipulated SLAs.
- Near-zero incidence of major catastrophic failures (e.g., generator burnouts, gearbox seizures, blade structural failures).
- Cost & Budget Management:
- Variance tracking against OPEX and CAPEX maintenance budgets.
- Realized cost savings through strategic vendor development for non-OEM spares and repairs.
- Digital & Forecasting Performance:
- Minimization of DSM (Deviation Settlement Mechanism) penalties through improved forecasting tool integration.




- Early-stage fault identification rate via SCADA and Condition Monitoring Systems (CMS) before physical breakdown occurs.
- Predictive Maintenance, Quality Monitoring & Control:
- Achieve on-time execution of CMS- and SCADA-triggered predictive maintenance work orders, while maintaining an early-stage anomaly catch rate and zero catastrophic drivetrain failures across the fleet.

Technical Competencies

- Wind Turbine Subsystems & Mechanical Engineering: Deep diagnostic and failure-mode knowledge of drive trains, multi-stage planetary gearboxes, hydraulic systems, rotor blades, and yaw/pitch mechanisms.
- Electrical, Power Electronics & Grid Compliance: Mastery of full-converter and DFIG systems, transformers, switchgear, grid code compliance, low-voltage ride-through (LVRT), and power quality harmonics.
- Reliability Engineering & RCA Frameworks: Proficiency in structured engineering problem-solving tools to determine failure mechanisms.
- SCADA, CMS & Industrial Telemetry: Hands-on command of industrial supervisory systems, vibration analysis, oil condition monitoring, thermography, and CMS analytics.
- Maintenance Strategy Design: Ability to author and standardize technical guidelines for Preventive, Corrective, and Predictive maintenance regimens.

Qualifications & Experience

- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power Systems Engineering.
- Experience: 20 - 25 years of progressive experience in engineering, field technology, or asset management within the power generation sector.
- Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of WTG subsystems (drive trains, gearboxes, pitch/yaw systems, blades, power converters, generators, and controls), grid codes, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
- Digital & Analytical Acumen: Robust proficiency in industrial SCADA, telemetry, CMS data diagnostics, and enterprise digital maintenance tools.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Skills: Proven capability in leading cross-functional technical teams, engaging with executive client stakeholders, and managing strategic technical vendors.
