Job Title: General Manager – Supply Chain

Department: Supply Chain

Reporting To: Vertical Head

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience: 12–15 Years

Role Summary The GM – Supply Chain will be responsible for end-to-end supply chain operations at a Pan-India level, covering supply chain planning, inventory management, warehouse operations, logistics, ERP-based tracking, inward & outward movement, quality control, last-mile delivery, and team leadership.

The role requires strong hands-on control over Pan-India logistics, warehouse management, local school/institution-level deliveries, QC and quality compliance, SOP adherence, transporter and vendor coordination, MIS, process governance, and operational excellence to ensure timely, cost-effective, quality-compliant, and efficient execution across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

A. Supply Chain Operations & Planning

Oversee the complete supply chain lifecycle from material planning, inward, storage, inventory allocation, dispatch, transportation, and final delivery at site/school/institution level.

Develop and implement Pan-India supply chain and logistics plans based on project, customer, and operational requirements.

Plan and manage material flow, stock availability, dispatch schedules, delivery timelines, and inter-location stock transfers.

Ensure optimum utilization of warehouse, manpower, transportation, and other supply chain resources.

Monitor order-to-delivery cycle time and proactively address operational bottlenecks.

Establish standardized processes for supply chain operations across different locations.

B. Pan-India Logistics & Transportation Management

Lead and manage Pan-India logistics operations, including primary, secondary, and last-mile transportation.

Develop efficient route planning, vehicle planning, load optimization, and transportation strategies.

Manage and evaluate transporters, logistics partners, and fleet/service providers.

Negotiate and monitor transportation costs, freight rates, service levels, and delivery performance.

Ensure timely delivery to schools, institutions, project sites, warehouses, and remote locations across India.

Manage logistics challenges related to remote, difficult, rural, and geographically dispersed locations.

Monitor transporter performance through KPIs such as OTIF, delivery TAT, freight cost, damages, shortages, and POD closure.

Develop alternate logistics plans for critical, urgent, and high-risk deliveries.

C. Warehouse Management & Inventory Control

Manage Pan-India warehouse operations, including central, regional, and project/site-level warehouses.

Establish and monitor standards for inward, put-away, binning, labeling, picking, packing, staging, dispatch, returns, and stock transfer.

Ensure proper implementation of FIFO/FEFO, batch/serial tracking, inventory classification, and material traceability wherever applicable.

Monitor real-time inventory, stock ageing, slow-moving/non-moving stock, excess inventory, shortages, and damages.

Ensure regular physical stock verification, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation.

Establish controls to minimize inventory loss, pilferage, damages, obsolescence, and stock discrepancies.

Ensure optimum utilization of warehouse space and storage capacity.

Standardize warehouse processes and layouts across locations.

D. ERP, Stock & Inventory Management

Ensure 100% ERP compliance for Purchase Orders, GRNs, stock entries, transfers, dispatches, returns, and inventory adjustments.

Maintain accurate system stock vs. physical stock reconciliation.

Monitor inventory movement through ERP and ensure complete transaction traceability.

Ensure timely updating of GRN, material receipt, stock transfer, dispatch, POD, return, and closure transactions.

Identify and resolve ERP/system-related discrepancies impacting supply chain operations.

Develop dashboards for inventory, dispatch, logistics, ageing, delivery,



and operational KPIs.

E. Quality Control (QC) & Quality Assurance

Establish and implement quality control processes across inward, storage, handling, packing, dispatch, transportation, and final delivery.

Ensure incoming materials are checked for quantity, specifications, physical condition, packaging, documentation, and quality requirements before acceptance.

Coordinate with QC/Quality, Procurement, Projects, Vendors, and Operations teams for resolution of quality issues.

Establish processes for identification and segregation of damaged, defective, rejected, or non-conforming materials.

Monitor quality-related complaints, damages, shortages, and deviations and ensure Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Ensure quality standards are maintained during warehouse handling, packing, loading, transportation, unloading, and last-mile delivery.

Maintain appropriate quality records, inspection reports, rejection reports, and corrective-action documentation.

F. SOP Adherence & Process Governance

Develop, implement, review, and continuously improve Supply Chain, Warehouse, Logistics, Inventory, QC, and Dispatch SOPs.

Ensure 100% adherence to approved SOPs, processes, controls, and documentation requirements across all locations.

Conduct periodic process reviews and identify gaps in operational compliance.

Implement process audits, compliance checks, and corrective actions for deviations.

Standardize supply chain processes across Pan-India locations.

Ensure proper documentation and adherence to defined approval matrices, delegation of authority, and internal controls.

Drive a culture of process discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.

G. Last-Mile Delivery & Institutional / School-Level Execution

Manage last-mile delivery operations to schools, institutions, government projects, and customer sites.

Ensure proper loading, unloading, material verification, delivery acknowledgement, POD collection, and delivery closure.

Coordinate with site teams, schools, project teams, local authorities, transporters, and other stakeholders.

Handle delivery challenges including shortages, damages, wrong deliveries, delays, site constraints, and reverse logistics.

Ensure complete documentation and closure of each delivery within defined TAT.

H. Coordination with Procurement & Vendors

Coordinate closely with Procurement, NVD, Vendors, Projects, and Operations teams to ensure timely material availability.

Monitor vendor delivery commitments and ensure materials reach warehouses/sites as per required timelines.

Support Procurement in evaluating vendors based on delivery performance, quality, capacity, responsiveness, and service levels.

Escalate critical supply constraints and develop alternate sourcing/logistics plans.

Ensure smooth coordination between purchase order, vendor dispatch, inward, QC, warehouse, and final delivery.

I. MIS, Reporting & Compliance

Prepare and review daily, weekly, monthly, and management-level MIS covering:

Inventory

Inward & outward

Dispatch

Delivery status

Warehouse performance

Logistics cost

Stock ageing

Shortages/damages

QC deviations

SOP compliance

OTIF performance

Order-to-delivery TAT

Develop and maintain Advanced Excel / MIS dashboards for management decision-making.

Track and improve key supply chain KPIs including OTIF, inventory accuracy, warehouse productivity, logistics cost per shipment, delivery TAT, stock ageing, and order cycle time.

Ensure compliance with GST documentation,



statutory requirements, internal audit requirements, and company policies.

Provide actionable insights to management for operational and cost optimization.

J. Team Management & Leadership

Lead and manage Supply Chain, Warehouse, Logistics, QC, and Dispatch teams across multiple locations.

Build an effective organizational structure and allocate responsibilities based on operational requirements.

Set KRAs, KPIs, productivity targets, and performance standards for team members.

Monitor team performance, discipline, productivity, and adherence to SOPs.

Develop team capability through training, process awareness, and continuous performance improvement.

Build strong coordination between HO, regional teams, warehouses, project teams, procurement, finance, QC, and operations.

K. Risk Management & Process Improvement

Identify potential supply chain, inventory, logistics, warehouse, quality, and delivery risks in advance.

Develop contingency and alternate plans for critical deliveries, transporter failures, stock shortages, remote locations, and operational disruptions.

Drive cost optimization across transportation, warehousing, inventory handling, manpower, and logistics operations.

Implement Lean/continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce operational wastage.

Conduct RCA for recurring operational issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.

Drive standardization, automation, digitalization, and best practices across supply chain operations.

Key Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain / Commerce / Management

MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain / Operations / Logistics preferred.

Experience

12–15 years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehouse, Inventory, and ERP-driven operations.

Preferred Experience

Exposure to education projects, government/PSU tenders, institutional supply, school-level distribution, or large-scale project execution.

Experience in Pan-India supply chain and logistics operations.

Experience managing multiple warehouses / regional warehouses/project warehouses.

Experience working in Uttar Pradesh, rural, hilly, remote, or geographically challenging regions.

Experience in quality management, process audits, SOP governance, and operational compliance will be a strong advantage.
