An experienced and results-oriented to lead the complete operations of our solar PV cells manufacturing facility. The role will be responsible for achieving production, Yield, Uptime. quality, cost, delivery, safety, and productivity objectives while building a high-performance manufacturing organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in solar PV cell manufacturing, plant operations, production planning, quality management, maintenance, supply-chain coordination, and team leadership, with a proven track record of managing large-scale manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Overall Plant Operations
- Lead and manage end-to-end solar module manufacturing operations.
- Develop and execute annual and monthly production plans in line with business requirements.
- Ensure achievement of production targets, capacity utilization, OEE, yield, productivity, and on-time delivery.
- Establish robust systems for production planning, shop-floor control, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Drive operational excellence and manufacturing discipline across the plant.
2. Production Management
- Oversee the complete Cell manufacturing process, including incoming wafers to final Cell out of the Production line.
- Optimize manpower, machine utilization, material consumption and cycle time.
- Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks, process losses, downtime, and material wastage.
- Ensure effective implementation of SOPs, work instructions, process controls, and production standards.
- Ensure best in class Quality Assurance is adhered to & maintained in alignment to the quality of our competition.
- Ensure production plans are aligned with customer requirements and dispatch schedules.
3.
Quality Management
- Ensure consistent product quality and compliance with applicable ISO, customer, and internal quality requirements.
- Drive reduction in defects, rework, rejection, customer complaints, and warranty-related issues.
- Work closely with Quality and R&D; teams on root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
- Establish strong process-quality controls from incoming materials through finished-Cell inspection.
- Promote a culture of "Right First Time" manufacturing.
- Extradite Rework of Wafers / Cells.
4. Maintenance & Engineering
- Ensure high equipment availability and reliability through preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance systems.
- Monitor machine downtime, MTBF, MTTR, spare-parts consumption, and maintenance costs.
- Lead engineering improvements, automation initiatives, line modifications, and capacity-expansion projects.
- Coordinate with equipment suppliers for commissioning, troubleshooting, upgrades, and technical support.
5. Cost & Productivity
- Own manufacturing cost targets and drive continuous reduction in conversion cost.
- Monitor key metrics such as labor productivity, material yield, energy consumption, scrap, consumables, and maintenance costs.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Six Sigma, and other continuous-improvement initiatives where appropriate.
- Develop and track plant-level productivity improvement programs.
7. People & Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop production, quality, maintenance, engineering, and support teams.
- Establish explicit KPIs and performance-management systems for all functional teams.
- Develop supervisors and middle management through structured training and succession planning.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, discipline, and a problem-solving culture.
- Ensure optimum manpower deployment across shifts and functions.
9. New Line / Capacity Expansion
- Lead plant expansion, new production-line installation, and capacity-enhancement projects.
- Participate in factory acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, and ramp-up.
- Establish production readiness plans for new products, technologies, and module formats.
- Ensure new lines achieve targeted capacity, yield, quality, and productivity within the planned timeline.
10. MIS & Management Reporting
- Establish a robust daily, weekly, and monthly manufacturing performance-review system.
- Report KPIs including:
- Production output
- OEE
- Yield
- Line efficiency
- Downtime
- Rejection and rework
- Conversion cost
- Labor productivity
- Energy consumption
- Safety performance
- On-time delivery
- Present plant performance, risks, corrective actions, and improvement plans to senior management.
Key Performance Indicators The General Manager will be accountable for:
- Production achievement and capacity utilization
- OEE and line efficiency
- Manufacturing yield and rejection rate
- Cost per watt.
- On-time production and dispatch
- Equipment uptime
- Labor productivity
- Material utilization and scrap reduction
- Energy consumption
- Customer complaints and quality performance
- Safety performance
- Continuous-improvement savings
Qualification
- Master’s / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Typically 20+ years of manufacturing experience, with a minimum of 10 years experience in solar PV cell manufacturing at a senior management level.
- Strong experience managing large-scale manufacturing plants and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in the following areas will be preferred:
- High-volume automated module production
- Module line commissioning and ramp-up
- TOPCon Cell technologies
- Production and process engineering
- Quality systems and IEC/BIS requirements
- Lean Manufacturing / TPM / Six Sigma
- Plant cost management
- Equipment maintenance and automation
- New product introduction and capacity expansion
