About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented General Accountant to join our finance team on a fully remote basis. You will manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial records, and support month-end and year-end reporting. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, is highly organized, and has hands-on experience with Xero.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain accurate general ledger entries and ensure timely posting of transactions
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, bill payments, and collections follow-up
- Perform bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations in Xero
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Manage payroll processing and related reporting (where applicable)
- Prepare and file VAT/GST/sales tax returns in line with local regulations
- Track fixed assets, depreciation, prepayments, and accruals
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors as needed
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls




- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflows

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in a general accounting role
- Proven, hands-on experience with Xero accounting software (Xero Advisor or Xero certification is a plus)
- Solid understanding of GAAP or IFRS
- Solid knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a remote environment

- Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent)
- Experience with Xero-integrated apps such as Dext, Hubdoc, Expensify, or Stripe
- Experience working with multiple entities or multi-currency accounting
- Familiarity with other accounting tools (QuickBooks, Zoho Books, etc.)
