- Objectives

- Improve production service and operations
- Reduce incident volume and severity (target to be agreed)
- Improve platform perceived performance and service level (target to be agreed)
- Implement platform observability, reliability engineering practices and define and agree SLOs and SLIs
- - Build Modern Software Engineering Practices and Tools
- Adapt and apply DevOps culture, automation-first mindset, and engineering best practices across the team.
- Implement and maintain test and operations automation scripts and assist with shift-left activities in QA, security, and operations.
- Build and enhance CI/CD, trunk-based development, and optimise the SDLC process to achieve deployment frequency of 1 per week or better, and lead time for change of 2 weeks or better
- Assist in migrating applications and teams to strategic SDLC tools, test automation frameworks, and observability technologies.

- - - Contribute to standardised development workflows, branching strategies, and release management activities.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and maintain reusable templates.

- - - Security, Compliance & Governance
- Apply DevSecOps practices by integrating automated scans, dependency checks, and secret management into pipelines.




- Ensure engineering changes align with cloud governance frameworks, tagging rules, naming conventions, and policy controls.
- Implement IAM changes following least-privilege principles under guidance from senior engineers.
- Participate in periodic security assessments, threat modelling sessions, and ensure vulnerabilities are remediated promptly.
- Maintain compliance with organisational security standards in all engineering tasks.

- - Documentation, Standards & Knowledge Sharing
- Create and maintain explicit documentation including runbooks, architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and standards.
- Contribute to engineering playbooks, reusable modules, and internal best practice libraries.
- Lead knowledge sharing sessions, brown bags, and engineering community-of-practice activities.

- - Delivery & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in sprint planning, technical grooming, and delivery ceremonies.
- Support measurement and reporting of DevOps metrics (DORA metrics, error budgets, availability).
- Evaluate new tools or technologies and provide initial analysis or proof-of-concepts to improve team productivity.
- Apply continuous improvement principles to enhance stability, efficiency, and reliability across the platform.
