Founder's Office – Content Researcher & Storyteller
Help shape how India thinks about financial inclusion. As Content Researcher & Storyteller in the Founder's Office, you will research ideas, discover stories from the field and turn them into insights that shape conversations across the social sector, the startup ecosystem and public policy.
About Rang DeRang De is India's pioneering social peer-to-peer lending platform, committed to making formal credit affordable, accessible and borrower-centric for underserved communities. Founded in 2008, Rang De has spent over a decade reimagining how credit reaches rural India by combining technology, trust and community participation.
Backed in its early years by Mr. Ratan Tata and recognised as a Champion of Change by the Prime Minister of India, Rang De is today an RBI-regulated NBFC-P2P lending platform that connects social investors directly with rural entrepreneurs, farmers and artisans.
Our next chapter is even more ambitious. We are building a nationwide network of AI-enabled Swabhimaan Kendras that use Digital Public Infrastructure to build digital financial literacy, assess credit readiness, provide on-demand access to formal credit and support entrepreneurship through AI-powered community mentors.
We believe the next chapter of financial inclusion will be shaped not just by technology, but by ideas and stories. That's where you come in.
Role: Content Researcher & Storyteller
Function: Founder's Office
Work location: Remote, with regular time alongside the founders and frequent field travel across India
Type: Full-time
Role OverviewWe're not looking for a content writer or a content creator. We're looking for someone who is endlessly curious.
Someone who loves reading, asks thoughtful questions, notices what others miss and finds the extraordinary stories being lived by people whose names most of us will never know.
Working directly with Ram and Smita, co-founders of Rang De, you will own a simple workflow: Research → Stories → Insights. You'll dig into the ideas the founders are thinking about, go into the field to find the stories behind them, and help turn both into essays, talks, reports and posts that influence how India thinks about entrepreneurship, social investing and financial inclusion.
Your job is to help the founders say things worth saying, in a voice that remains unmistakably their own.
ResponsibilitiesResearch
- Track emerging ideas in financial inclusion, credit, entrepreneurship, Digital Public Infrastructure, AI and public policy, and prepare weekly research briefs for the founders.
- Dig into the subjects the founders want to write or speak about, bringing data, history,
counter-arguments and fresh perspectives that sharpen their point of view.
- Use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity to accelerate research, while verifying every fact and source.
Stories
- Spend time with Ram and Smita every week, listening to conversations and capturing ideas, observations, reflections and unfinished thoughts.
- Travel to Swabhimaan Kendras, villages, markets and small towns to interview entrepreneurs, farmers, artisans, social investors, partners and community leaders.
- Discover the stories hidden in the everyday work of building Rang De, and document them through notes, interviews and photographs.
- Build and maintain Rang De's repository of stories, research, anecdotes, photographs and insights that the whole organisation can draw on.
Insights
- Turn research and field stories into founder essays and blogs, speeches and talking points, reports, newsletters and LinkedIn posts.
- Understand how Ram and Smita think and speak, and help each develop a distinct voice and rhythm without imposing your own.
- Identify recurring patterns across stories and research, and surface them as ideas for the founders and the wider team.
- Track what resonates with readers, without letting algorithms dictate what we say.
What This Role Is NotThis is not a social media management or content creator role. LinkedIn is one channel among many, and most of the work happens long before anything is published: in reading, listening and time spent in the field. We're not chasing impressions, manufacturing virality or turning every experience into a “5 things I learnt” post. And we're not building personal brands for the sake of building personal brands.
We want to share ideas and stories worth sharing: about entrepreneurship at the last mile, social investing, dignity, agency, financial inclusion and what we are learning while building Rang De.
Who We're Looking ForYou could be a journalist, researcher, writer, documentary filmmaker or communications professional, or someone with an unusual path that led you here. You may come from Journalism, Liberal Arts, English Literature, Economics, Sociology, Public Policy, Psychology, Development Studies or Communications. What matters more than your designation is how you think.
You will thrive in this role if you have:
- A love of reading and learning,
and genuine curiosity about people, ideas and India's development journey.
- The ability to listen deeply, ask great questions and conduct thoughtful interviews.
- Clear, honest writing that doesn't need to sound “beautiful” to be powerful.
- The ability to understand someone else's voice rather than impose your own.
- Strong editorial judgement: you know when a story is worth telling, and you notice patterns others miss.
- Comfort travelling beyond conference rooms and working independently in villages, markets and small towns.
- Enthusiasm for using AI as a research assistant, not a replacement for thinking.
- A healthy dislike of formulaic content.
Bonus points if you have:
- Published articles, essays, newsletters or research.
- Experience in journalism, policy research or documentary storytelling.
- Photography or filmmaking skills.
- Familiarity with financial inclusion, livelihoods or the social sector.
- Fluency in one or more Indian languages.
