Location: Ahmedabad / Project Sites, India
Job Summary
BHSK Private Limited is looking for an experienced Forklift Operator with proven expertise in operating heavy-capacity forklifts ranging from 10 to 30 tons. The role will be responsible for the secure handling, lifting, movement, positioning, loading, and unloading of heavy machinery and equipment at project sites.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in handling heavy and high-value equipment in industrial, warehouse, semiconductor, manufacturing, or project environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate 10-ton to 30-ton capacity forklifts for lifting, shifting, loading, unloading, and positioning heavy machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Safely handle heavy, sensitive, and high-value machinery/equipment during movement and installation activities.
- Carry out loading and unloading operations from trucks, trailers, containers, and other transportation vehicles.
- Move and position machinery and equipment accurately within warehouses, production facilities, cleanroom areas, and project sites.
- Assess load weight, dimensions, centre of gravity, lifting points, ground conditions, and available clearance before commencing forklift operations.
- Select and use suitable forklift attachments and material-handling accessories based on the load and operational requirements.
- Coordinate closely with Riggers, Movers, Supervisors, Project Engineers, Safety personnel, and the Person-in-Charge (PIC) during lifting and machinery movement activities.
- Follow instructions from designated banksmen/signalmen during equipment movement, particularly in restricted or confined areas.
- Conduct pre-operation and daily safety inspections of the forklift, including tyres, forks, mast, hydraulics, brakes, steering, warning systems, and other safety devices.
- Immediately report equipment defects, unsafe conditions, incidents, or potential hazards to the Supervisor/PIC.
- Ensure loads are properly balanced, secured, and within the forklift's approved Safe Working Load (SWL) before movement.
- Exercise additional care while operating in narrow spaces, confined areas, production facilities, warehouses, and areas containing sensitive equipment.
- Maintain safe operating speeds and comply with designated traffic routes and site-specific movement procedures.
- Follow all applicable HSE requirements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), lifting plans, risk assessments, permit requirements, and client/site safety regulations.
- Support the project team in machinery mobilisation, demobilisation, relocation, installation, and material-handling activities as required.
- Maintain the forklift in good operating condition and ensure proper housekeeping of the equipment and work area.
- Perform other operational duties related to forklift and material-handling activities as assigned by the Project Manager, Supervisor, or PIC.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a Forklift Operator, preferably involving heavy machinery and equipment handling.
- Proven experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts in the 10–30ton range is essential.
- Previous overseas/international work experience is preferable
- Experience in machinery moving, semiconductor facilities, manufacturing plants, industrial projects, warehouses, cleanrooms, or heavy equipment handling will be highly preferred.
- Must possess a valid forklift operator license/certification applicable to the equipment operated.
- Valuable knowledge of forklift capacity, load charts, load balancing, centre of gravity, safe lifting practices, and equipment limitations.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety requirements related to heavy equipment and material-handling operations.
- Ability to understand and follow lifting plans, work instructions, safety procedures, and instructions from supervisors and signalmen.
- Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a team involving Riggers, Movers, Engineers, and Safety personnel.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible, disciplined, safety-conscious, and willing to work according to project requirements.
- Willingness to work at different BHSK/client project sites and undertake shift, overtime, weekend, or holiday work when required by project operations.
