Company Description Uddhava Logistics Pvt Limited, formerly known as Aarty Carriers, has been providing qualitative and cost-effective logistics and third-party supply chain management solutions across South India since 1992. The company now supports customers across India in sectors such as automotive engineering, food and beverage, and FMCG. About the role
We run a large owned fleet of heavy commercial vehicles serving major automotive and tractor OEMs across South India. We need a hands-on Fleet Maintenance Manager to keep our trucks on the road, protected, compliant and cost-efficient across multiple locations, brands and service vendors.
Key responsibilities
Fleet uptime and maintenance planning
- Own availability and uptime targets for the full fleet
- Build and run preventive maintenance schedules by brand, model and duty cycle
- Cut breakdowns and repeat failures through root-cause analysis
- Manage breakdown response and on-road recovery, including night and highway breakdowns
Multi-brand fleet management
- Manage maintenance across Ashok Leyland, Tata, BharatBenz, Eicher and other brands
- Handle warranty claims, AMCs and service contracts with OEM dealers
- Track campaigns, recalls and software updates
Multi-location and vendor coordination
- Coordinate maintenance across branches: Chennai, Ranipet, Hosur, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Mysore
- Build, evaluate and manage a network of workshops, tyre vendors, battery suppliers, body builders and spare parts dealers
- Negotiate labour rates and parts pricing, and approve job cards and invoices
- Audit vendor work quality and turnaround time
Cost control
- Own the maintenance budget and track cost per km by vehicle
- Run tyre management: rotation, retreading, tyre life tracking and claims
- Control spares inventory and prevent pilferage
- Monitor fuel efficiency with operations and flag vehicles with abnormal consumption
Compliance and documentation
- Keep FC, permits, insurance, PUC, road tax and national permits current
- Maintain GPS/AIS-140 device compliance
- Handle accident repairs and insurance claim coordination with surveyors
- Keep complete maintenance history for every vehicle
People and systems
- Lead in-house mechanics, electricians and supervisors across locations
- Use fleet management and maintenance software, and build MIS reports on uptime, cost per km, breakdowns and vendor performance
- Train drivers on vehicle care, daily checks and defect reporting
- Recommend when to replace ageing vehicles
Must have Requirements :
- Diploma or BE in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering
- 10–15 years in HCV maintenance, with at least 5 years managing a large fleet (transport company, logistics company or large fleet operator)
- Proven experience with multiple truck brands and multiple locations at the same time
- Strong knowledge of BS-VI engines, electricals, air brakes, transmissions and tyres
- Experience managing outside workshops and vendors, including rate negotiation
- Good working knowledge of RTO and statutory compliance in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka
- Comfortable with Excel and fleet management software
Good to have
- Background at an OEM, authorized dealership or large fleet operator
- Experience with telematics and GPS data for maintenance decisions
- Exposure to automotive logistics or OEM supply chain transport
Languages: Tamil and English required. Kannada and Hindi preferred.
