We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Shell Rolling and Long Seam Welding for a static equipment manufacturing environment. The role will be responsible for managing shell rolling activities and ensuring ready-to-fabricate shells are delivered to the Equipment Manufacturing shop as per quality and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage shell rolling, re-rolling and plate pre-bending activities.
- Handle rolling machine operations and ensure shells meet required dimensions and specifications.
- Manage Long Seam Welding activities with proper fit-up and distortion control.
- Coordinate NDT, inspection and documentation of rolled shells.
- Ensure timely availability of ready-to-fabricate shells for the fabrication shop.
- Plan daily shop throughput and coordinate with Engineering, Fabrication and Quality teams.
- Monitor quality, productivity,
documentation and delivery schedules.
- Ensure compliance with applicable customer specifications, QAP and engineering standards.
- Support process improvements and optimize Rolling Cell operations.
Key Requirements
- 8+ years of overall experience in heavy fabrication / static equipment manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in Shell Rolling Shop.
- Solid experience in plate pre-bending, shell rolling and re-rolling.
- Hands-on experience in Long Seam Welding and welding distortion control.
- Experience with pressure vessels, columns, heat exchangers or similar static equipment will be preferred.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, EN, TEMA and ASTM standards.
- Good understanding of inspection/NDT requirements.
- Experience in production planning, shop-floor coordination and KPI management.
- SAP/ERP knowledge will be an added advantage.
