Electrical Engineer – Container Terminal (Kolkata)

Role Overview The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of container handling equipment including Liebherr Diesel Harbour Mobile Cranes (HMCs), Noell RTGs, Broma spreaders, and Electric Italguru MHCs. The role requires solid technical expertise in electrical systems, adherence to safety standards, and coordination with operations teams to ensure maximum equipment uptime.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems of HMCs, RTGs, spreaders, and electric MHCs.
- Diagnose electrical faults (motors, drives, PLCs, control systems) and implement timely repairs.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements for reliability and energy efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and equipment history.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and statutory regulations during all electrical work.




- Coordinate with mechanical engineers and technicians for integrated troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support during breakdowns and shift operations.
- Participate in inspections, audits, and reporting to management.
- Train and guide junior technicians on electrical systems and safe work practices.

Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance of heavy equipment, preferably in container terminals or ports.
- Hands-on knowledge of Liebherr HMCs, Noell RTGs, Broma spreaders, and Electric Italguru MHCs is essential.
- Strong understanding of PLCs, VFDs, high-voltage systems, and automation controls.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and under high-pressure operational environments.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in maintenance documentation and reporting tools.

Work Conditions

- Shift-based role (3 shifts of 8 hours per day, including night shifts).
- Exposure to outdoor port environment with heavy machinery.
- Requires strict adherence to PPE and safety standards.
