EHS Coordinator | ITC Maratha, Mumbai

As an EHS Coordinator at ITC Maratha, I support the implementation and continuous improvement of Environment, Health & Safety standards across hotel operations, with a robust focus on workplace safety, regulatory compliance, sustainability, emergency preparedness and employee awareness.

My key responsibilities and contributions include:

- Conducting regular EHS inspections, workplace safety observations and hazard identification across hotel operational areas, and coordinating corrective and preventive actions.
- Planning and conducting EHS training programs, toolbox talks, new-joiner safety training and awareness sessions for associates, service providers and contractors.
- Supporting fire and emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills, evacuation exercises, emergency response coordination, hydrant/fire equipment awareness and incident preparedness.
- Preparing and maintaining EHS documentation, checklists, permits, inspection records, training records, near-miss reports, incident investigations and corrective action trackers.
- Coordinating Permit-to-Work systems and monitoring high-risk activities such as work at height, hot work, electrical work, confined space, chemical handling, grinding/cutting and other engineering activities.
- Conducting near-miss and incident investigations using structured root-cause analysis and developing practical preventive measures to avoid recurrence.




- Supporting internal and external EHS audits and coordinating with various departments to close observations within defined timelines.
- Supporting ISO 14001 environmental management activities and contributing to environmental compliance and continual improvement initiatives.
- Working on sustainability initiatives including GHG data, ISDMS data, waste management, biogas, organic waste composting, water conservation, recycling and resource-efficiency initiatives.
- Supporting BRSR-related activities, including supplier assessments, documentation and sustainability data collection.
- Contributing to LEED Zero Carbon initiatives and hotel sustainability programs.
- Developing and implementing safety signage, Protected Work Procedures (SWPs), emergency instructions and multilingual safety communication for associates and contractors.
- Coordinating with Engineering, Security, Housekeeping, Food Production, F&B;, Laundry, HR and other departments to integrate EHS requirements into daily hotel operations.
- Conducting safety awareness campaigns, emergency response training, safety observations and workplace improvement initiatives to strengthen the hotel's safety culture.
- Supporting contractor and service-provider safety compliance, including induction, documentation, PPE verification, work permits and site safety monitoring.
- Promoting a proactive safety culture through continuous employee engagement, hazard reporting, near-miss reporting and practical workplace improvements.
