Role Description The Drone Designer will design and refine unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) suited to the diverse environmental and operational conditions of Northeast India. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing drone concepts, creating structural and mechanical designs, collaborating on propulsion and payload configurations, and optimizing aerodynamics and performance. The role involves working closely with operations, engineering, and data teams to ensure that designs meet safety standards, DGCA requirements, and mission-specific needs across agriculture, infrastructure, and government applications.

Designer will also prepare technical documentation, support prototype fabrication and testing, and iterate designs based on field feedback. This is a contract, hybrid role based in Guwahati, with a combination of on-site collaboration and some work-from-home flexibility.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in UAV or aerospace design, including airframe, propulsion, and payload integration.
- Proficiency with CAD and simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion 360, CFD or FEA software) for mechanical and structural design.
- Knowledge of aerodynamics, flight mechanics, materials, and lightweight structures relevant to drone development.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, pilots, data analysts) and translate mission requirements into practical design solutions.
- Familiarity with DGCA guidelines, aviation safety standards, and certification processes for UAVs in India.
- Experience in prototyping, assembly, and testing of drones or robotics systems, including troubleshooting in field conditions.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Robust problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to work in a fast-evolving, resourceful startup environment in Guwahati.
