Job Title: District Sales Manager / District Sales Executive - Consumer Appliances Electronics
Location: One position for each district / assigned territory
Reporting To: Business Development Manager / State Head
Department: Sales Distribution
Job Summary
The District Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the companys business across the assigned district by building a strong dealer, distributor, retailer and modern-trade network, achieving primary and secondary sales targets, ensuring product availability and visibility, and developing new business opportunities. The role requires robust local market knowledge and established relationships within the consumer durable, consumer electronics, electrical or home-appliance trade. Distribution management, primary/secondary sales and sell-out execution are core responsibilities in comparable consumer-electronics roles.
Key Responsibilities
- A. Sales Target Achievement
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual district sales targets.
- Drive both primary and secondary sales.
- Achieve product-wise and category-wise targets for appliances and electronics.
- Prepare and execute district sales plans.
- Ensure regular order generation from distributors and dealers.
- Drive sell-out and improve retailer productivity.
- B. Distribution Development
- Identify and appoint suitable distributors, dealers and retailers.
- Expand distribution coverage across the district.
- Identify uncovered markets and potential towns.
- Develop new counters and increase active outlets.
- Ensure adequate stock availability at distributor and retailer level.
- Manage distributor productivity and stock rotation.
- C. Dealer Retailer Management
- Maintain strong relationships with dealers, retailers and key accounts.
- Conduct regular market visits and outlet audits.
- Ensure proper product display and visibility.
- Monitor competitor pricing, schemes and promotional activities.
- Resolve dealer issues relating to pricing, supply, schemes and service.
- Conduct dealer meets and product demonstrations where required.
- D. Modern Trade / Large Format Retail
- Develop business with leading consumer-electronics and appliance chains.
- Manage key accounts within the assigned district.
- Ensure product placement, visibility and availability.
- Coordinate promotions, special schemes and seasonal campaigns.
- Monitor sales performance outlet-wise.
- E. Market Development
- Map the complete district market.
- Identify potential dealers, retailers and emerging markets.
- Develop business in Tier-2, Tier-3 towns and rural markets.
- Conduct competitor analysis.
- Provide regular market intelligence to management.
- F. Collection Commercial Management
- Monitor distributor/dealer outstanding payments.
- Ensure collections are made within agreed credit terms.
- Follow up on overdue payments.
- Coordinate with finance/accounts for reconciliation.
- Ensure commercial discipline and compliance with company policies.
- G. Team Promoter Management
- Manage promoters/sales representatives assigned to the district.
- Ensure adequate manpower at important retail counters.
- Train the team on products, schemes and sales techniques.
- Monitor daily productivity and outlet coverage.
- Conduct regular review meetings.
- H. Reporting MIS
- Submit daily/weekly/monthly sales reports.
- Provide distributor stock and secondary-sales reports.
- Submit market visit reports.
- Provide competitor and pricing updates.
- Prepare sales forecasts and business plans.
- Maintain accurate customer and outlet databases.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum 2-5 years of relevant sales experience.
- Candidates with experience in Consumer Durables, Consumer Electronics, Home Appliances, Kitchen Appliances, TV, AC, Refrigerators, Washing Machines, Small Appliances, Electricals or related categories will be preferred.
- Strong experience in dealer/distributor/channel sales.
- Existing relationships with dealers and retailers in the assigned district will be a major advantage.
- Candidates should preferably have local market knowledge of the entire district.
- For senior district/large-market positions, 3-5+ years in consumer durable/electronics is appropriate; comparable industry roles commonly emphasize channel management, primary/secondary sales, target achievement and market mapping.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate in any discipline preferred.
- MBA/PGDM in Sales Marketing will be an added advantage.
- Diploma holders with strong relevant market experience may also be considered.
