Deputy Manager – Customization Lab (CL)

Location: Mangalore

Reports to: Head – Technology

Team Handling: 4 direct subordinates (team size ~10)

Objective of the Role:

To lead the product owner team in managing and optimizing lab workflows related to automotive coatings—including product development, cost optimization, application process improvement, and technical issue resolution—while ensuring safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Development & Modification:
- Develop current automotive coating products.
- Modify existing products to meet customer and cost objectives.

- Raw Material Replacement Projects:

- Identify cost-competitive resins, solvents, pigments, and additives for India and ASEAN without compromising quality.

- Lab Operations & Optimization:

- Manage lab workflows efficiently by controlling costs, ensuring safety, and driving continuous improvements.

- Customer Interaction & Support:

- Introduce new products and technologies on customer lines.




- Resolve customer line issues with technical and timely solutions.

- Team Leadership & Coordination:

- Lead the CL team in the absence of the Head – Technology.
- Mentor and develop team members as per guidelines.

- Compliance & Safety:

- Implement ISO / IATF-compliant lab procedures for safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Education: Bachelor’s in Paint Technology / Chemical Technology / Science
- Experience: Minimum 15 years in automotive coatings, with OEM exposure and team leadership
- Technical Knowledge: Coating formulations, paint application processes, lab operations, and troubleshooting
