Job Summary

Responsible for the overall management, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and strategic development of the hospital pharmacy services. The role ensures protected medication practices, inventory optimization, statutory compliance, and high-quality patient care aligned with hospital standards and NABH guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ Pharmacy Operations Management

- Oversee daily operations of IPD, OPD, Emergency, and ICU pharmacy units.

- Ensure accurate dispensing of medications as per prescriptions.

- Monitor medication turnaround time and service quality.

- Ensure 24/7 pharmacy availability as per hospital requirements.

2️⃣ Regulatory & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with Drugs & Cosmetics Act and State Pharmacy Council norms.

- Maintain valid pharmacy licenses and statutory documentation.

- Ensure NABH/JCI standards adherence (if applicable).

- Monitor storage conditions (temperature, humidity, cold chain management).

3️⃣ Inventory & Supply Chain Management

- Monitor procurement, stock levels, and vendor management.

- Prevent stock-outs and minimize expiry losses.





- Conduct regular stock audits and reconciliation.

- Implement inventory control systems (FIFO/FEFO).

4️⃣ Financial & Cost Control

- Monitor pharmacy revenue and profitability.

- Analyze high-cost medications and suggest alternatives.

- Control wastage and pilferage.

- Work closely with finance for billing accuracy and reconciliation.

5️⃣ Clinical Coordination

- Coordinate with doctors and nursing teams for formulary management.

- Participate in Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T;) Committee meetings.

- Promote rational drug use and antibiotic stewardship.

6️⃣ Team Management

- Lead and supervise pharmacists and pharmacy assistants.

- Plan duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing.

- Conduct training and performance evaluations.

- Foster a positive and compliant work culture.

7️⃣ Quality & Patient Safety

- Ensure medication safety protocols are followed.

- Monitor LASA (Look-Alike Sound-Alike) drugs.

- Investigate medication errors and implement corrective actions.

- Maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
