Location: Hybrid / In office

Type: Full-time

Experience: 6 to 9 years

Education: MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or equivalent

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network, Cloud & Data Center Design Engineer to architect and deliver resilient, high-performance infrastructure that powers our global operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading end-to-end design and implementation of physical and virtual network environments, including on-premises data centers, colocation facilities, and multi-cloud platforms. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of network architecture, security, and automation to ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and capable of meeting demanding service level agreements.

Responsibilities

- Design and architect enterprise-grade data center networks, including spine-leaf topologies, fabric interconnects, and WAN/SD-WAN overlays to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Lead cloud network architecture across multiple cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, including designing VPCs, transit gateways, direct connects, and cloud-native routing solutions.
- Develop comprehensive low-level and high-level design documentation, including rack elevations, cable plans, capacity models, and network diagrams.
- Collaborate closely with security teams to incorporate zero-trust principles, micro-segmentation, and compliance controls into network designs to enhance security posture.
- Evaluate, select, and test network hardware and software vendors, driving proof-of-concept initiatives and technology refresh cycles to stay current with industry best practices.
- Partner with data center operations, facilities, and cloud engineering teams to ensure seamless deployment, integration, and ongoing Day 2 operations.
- Define standards for network observability, traffic engineering policies, and failure-mode testing, including chaos engineering and disaster recovery drills to validate resilience.

Qualifications

- Proven experience in designing data center networks, particularly spine-leaf and CLOS architectures, using BGP EVPN/VXLAN in large-scale environments.
- Hands-on experience with multi-cloud networking, including connectivity solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

- Deep understanding of routing and switching protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, and QoS, with the ability to troubleshoot complex routing policies.
- Strong knowledge of network security principles, including micro-segmentation, firewall policies, TLS/SSL inspection, and compliance requirements like PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or FedRAMP.
- Practical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible for automation of network provisioning and management.
- Industry certifications such as CCIE (Routing & Switching, Data Center, or Service Provider), AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or GCP Professional Cloud Network Engineer are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to work effectively across diverse teams.

Additional Skills (Nice-to-Have)

- Experience with SD-WAN and SASE architecture, including platforms like Cisco Viptela, VMware VeloCloud, and Palo Alto Prisma.
- Ability to develop custom automation scripts using Python or Go, and extend vendor platforms via NETCONF, YANG, or REST APIs.
- Knowledge of data center physical and power design, including power distribution, cooling strategies, and cabling best practices aligned with standards like TIA-942 and Uptime Institute Tier ratings.
- Familiarity with network observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Kentik, and Thousand Eyes for proactive monitoring and capacity planning.
- Relevant industry certifications that demonstrate expertise and commitment to professional development.

Additional Requirements

- Willingness to travel occasionally to data center or colocation sites for design reviews, deployment, and commissioning activities.
- Ability to pass background screening; active security clearance is a plus, especially for government or regulated verticals.
