Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering & Maintenance function for our upcoming Bali-themed resort in Alibaug.
The incumbent will be responsible for pre-opening engineering planning, project coordination, installation and commissioning of MEP systems, statutory compliance, preventive maintenance, utilities management, energy conservation and engineering team setup, ensuring the property is technically ready for opening and operates safely and efficiently thereafter.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in hotel/resort engineering, preferably having handled at least one hotel/resort pre-opening project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Pre-Opening Engineering
- Take complete ownership of the Engineering function during the pre-opening phase.
- Review engineering requirements, drawings, specifications and project plans.
- Coordinate with Project, Civil, MEP consultants, contractors, architects and management.
- Monitor installation and commissioning of:
- Electrical systems
- HVAC
- DG sets
- Transformers
- STP/ETP
- Water treatment systems
- Pumps
- Fire-fighting systems
- Plumbing
- Hot water systems
- Lifts
- Kitchen equipment
- Laundry equipment
- Swimming pool systems
- BMS/automation, wherever applicable
- Conduct systematic testing and commissioning before opening.
- Prepare engineering snag lists, follow up on rectification and ensure closure before handover.
- Develop engineering checklists and SOPs required for hotel opening.
1. Project & Contractor Coordination
- Work closely with contractors and project teams to ensure timely completion.
- Verify technical specifications and quality of installations.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is completed as per approved specifications.
- Participate in inspections, testing and commissioning.
- Review AMC requirements and recommend suitable vendors.
- Ensure proper handover of equipment, warranties, manuals and as-built drawings.
1. Utilities Management
Responsible for productive management of:
- Electricity
- DG fuel and power generation
- Water consumption
- STP/ETP operations
- LPG / gas systems
- HVAC
- Hot water
- Swimming pool utilities
- Pumps and other major utilities
Develop and monitor daily/monthly utility consumption reports and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
1. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance
- Establish a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance Plan before opening.
- Ensure scheduled maintenance of all critical equipment.
- Maintain engineering logbooks and equipment history.
- Establish breakdown reporting and response procedures.
- Ensure minimum downtime and quick resolution of engineering issues.
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules for guest rooms and public areas.
1. Statutory & Safety Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements relating to:
- Electrical safety
- Fire & Life Safety
- Lift/elevator compliance
- Boiler, where applicable
- Pollution Control requirements
- STP/ETP
- Water quality
- DG and environmental requirements
- Gas/LPG safety
- Local authority requirements
Maintain all required licenses, certificates, inspection reports and compliance records.
1. Energy Conservation
- Implement energy-saving initiatives across the resort.
- Monitor electricity, diesel, water and gas consumption.
- Identify opportunities for reduction in utility costs.
- Promote sustainable engineering practices.
- Monitor HVAC efficiency and operating parameters.
- Establish utility benchmarks for the property.
1. Engineering Team Setup
- Recruit and build the Engineering team for the new resort.
- Prepare department manpower plan and duty rosters.
- Define responsibilities and SOPs for engineering associates.
- Conduct technical training and safety training.
- Establish emergency response procedures.
- Develop on-call/shift engineering coverage.
1. Guest & Hotel Operations Support
- Ensure all guest rooms and public areas are technically ready before opening.
- Coordinate with Rooms Division, F&B;, Housekeeping, Security and other HODs.
- Attend to guest-related engineering complaints promptly.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of critical hotel systems.
- Participate in daily operational meetings during the opening phase.

QUALIFICATION
Essential:
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Relevant hotel engineering qualification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of MEP and hotel engineering systems.
Experience 8–12 years of relevant experience in hotel/resort engineering.
Pre-opening experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience in a resort or large hotel project.
Experience with luxury/upscale resorts, independent hotels or international hotel chains will be an advantage.

Preferred Profile8–12 years' hotel/resort engineering experience with minimum 1 successful pre-opening experience. Candidates from upscale/luxury resorts or large hotel projects will be preferred.
Location: Alibaug, Maharashtra
Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
