Lead CAD Software Developer (NX Customization).

ABOUT THE ROLE

At Optellix, we build CAD automation and 3D visualization software for engineering-heavy industries: oil & gas, aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing. As Lead CAD Software Developer, you'll own the technical direction of our CAD development work. You'll lead a team of developers building C# and C++ solutions on Siemens NX, Creo, and our own products, Xviewr and Xviewr DWI.

You'll still write code, and you'll also be the person who sets the architecture, reviews the hard problems, and makes sure what we ship to global industrial clients is correct, fast, and maintainable. This role suits someone who has shipped serious CAD software and now wants to shape how a team builds it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Lead a team of CAD developers: plan and assign work, review code, and mentor engineers on CAD APIs, geometry, and software design
- Own the architecture of our CAD plug-ins and the Xviewr desktop application (WPF), and make key technical decisions on design, performance, and scalability
- Build and guide complex applications on NX Open API, Creo Toolkit, and similar SDKs, stepping in hands-on where it matters most
- Design algorithms for parametric modelling, geometry queries, PMI handling, and assembly automation, and set the standards the team follows
- Turn client briefs into technical solutions: lead scoping, effort estimation, and technical proposals together with BD
- Act as the main technical contact for global clients on requirements, design reviews, and escalations
- Set and enforce engineering practices: code reviews, branching strategy, testing, documentation, and release quality
- Work with management on hiring, team growth, and the product technology roadmap

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must have

- 6-10 years of software development experience in C# and/or C++, including at least 2 years leading developers or owning a technical module end to end
- Deep expertise in C# and/or C++: OOP, design patterns, memory management (C++), multithreading,



and modern language features
- Robust hands-on experience with NX Customization (NX Open API) on production projects
- A track record of designing software architecture and delivering CAD or engineering software to clients
- Experience with estimation, sprint planning, and delivering projects on committed timelines
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Clear written and verbal communication, and confidence presenting technical solutions to global clients

Nice to have

- Experience with more CAD APIs such as Creo Toolkit, SolidWorks API, CATIA CAA, or OpenCascade
- Strong background in WPF or other desktop UI frameworks, including MVVM
- Solid grounding in 3D geometry, linear algebra, or computational geometry
- Exposure to CAM, CAE, PLM (Teamcenter, Windchill), or 3D visualization and web-based rendering
- Experience setting up CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality processes
