2. Role Purpose & Impact
We are seeking an autonomous, highly analytical, and results-driven Buyer to drive global strategic sourcing and supplier outreach initiatives. Acting as an independent technical and commercial liaison, the ideal candidate will manage end-to-end global supplier relationships, resolve technical and commercial vendor queries independently, execute rigorous Quote vs Cost Breakdown Data (CBD) evaluations, and maintain strict compliance with internal global procurement procedures.
3. Key Responsibilities & Core Deliverables
3.1 Autonomous Supplier Outreach & Query Management
- Vendor Inquiry Ownership (Must Have) : Serve as the primary, independent point of contact for international and local suppliers, autonomously resolving simple technical, process, and commercial queries without routine escalation.
- Strategic Supplier Discovery (Must Have): Identify, evaluate, and onboard high-performing global suppliers adhering to strict corporate governance criteria (e.g., sales turnover > $6M–$10M, IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 certifications, export track record).
- Compliance & Documentation (Good to Have): Execute seamless onboarding workflows, securing signed NDAs, RFIs, company profiles, and Supplier Survey Assessments (SSA).
3.2 Strategic Sourcing, RFQ Execution & Benchmarking
- End-to-End RFQ Management (Must Have):
Translate complex engineering specifications into comprehensive RFQ packages; issue, track, and manage multi-vendor quote submissions across global supply bases.
- Commercial & Technical Evaluation (Must Have): Conduct rigorous quote comparisons to establish supplier rankings, total cost of ownership (TCO) models, and regional price benchmarking.
- Cost Optimization & Value Capture (Good to Have): Drive Should-Cost/CBD analysis, and competitive benchmarking to systematically achieve target savings.
3.3 Supplier Audits, Negotiations & Execution
- Audits & Capability Assessments (Good to Have): Perform remote/onsite supplier technical capability audits and SSA verifications; draft structured visit reports.
- Negotiation Execution (Good to Have): Develop and execute structured negotiation playbooks to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and Incoterms alignment.
- PO & Shipment Governance (Good to Have): Monitor purchase orders (POs), invoice milestones, and shipment tracking to mitigate supply chain disruption risks.
3.4 AI Integration & Data Governance
- Practical AI Skills: Comfortable experimenting with and applying AI tools (Gemini, Copilot, or similar) to automate sourcing research, draft communications, and summarize benchmark data.
- AI Agents (Preferred):
Familiarity with building or prompt-engineering AI agents for repetitive task execution is a solid advantage.
- Data Governance & SOP Compliance: Manage quote databases, vendor profiles, and audit files within structured Google Drive folders in compliance with operational standards.
4. Candidate Profile & Qualifications
4.1 Educational Qualifications
- Engineering Degrees: BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering; OR
- Business / Operations Degrees: B.Com / BA / B.Sc in Supply Chain, Operations, Business Analytics, or Economics (PG Diploma in Materials Management / SCM preferred); OR
- Diploma: Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
4.2 Experience & Essential Capabilities
- Manufacturing Process Knowledge: Strong technical baseline in manufacturing processes, specifically Stampings, Injection Molding, Die Casting, and Fabrication (PCB / PCBA / Wire Harness experience is advantageous).
- Autonomous Query Resolution: Proven track record of independently analyzing drawings, engineering specs, and commercial terms to clarify and resolve supplier queries effectively.
- Costing & Commercial Expertise: Deep proficiency in Cost Breakdown Data (CBD) buckets, Should-Cost principles, tooling cost drivers, and global Incoterms.
- Software & Analytical Skills: Advanced command of Google Workspace (Google Sheets, Docs, Slides) and MS Excel for complex data manipulation (lookups, pivot tables, data modeling).
- Communication & Executive Presence: Exceptional oral and written English communication skills to engage seamlessly with US leadership and global supply chain partners.
