Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Architecture, Urban Planning & Structural Engineering
Engagement Type: Freelance / Part time
Location: Remote
Role Overview
We are seeking academic specialists holding advanced degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Architecture, Urban Planning, Building Construction, or Structural Engineering to support research, data modeling, and analytical initiatives focused on the US real estate and built-environment landscape.
The ideal candidate will combine deep theoretical and technical training with practical exposure to US building codes, zoning frameworks, geospatial datasets, and property analytics. While the primary operational focus centers on commercial and industrial facilities, background in residential asset classes is also valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Domain Expertise & Methodological Guidance: Apply principles of structural engineering, architecture, and urban planning to analyze, evaluate, and interpret physical asset characteristics across US markets.
- Property & Spatial Data Analysis: Work directly with large-scale US parcel, zoning, tax assessment, building footprint, and structural inventory datasets.
- Code & Regulatory Assessment: Evaluate asset compliance, occupancy classifications, and structural resilience based on standard US frameworks (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, FEMA, local municipal zoning ordinances).
- Cross-Disciplinary Integration:
Bridge academic domain knowledge with geospatial systems (GIS), spatial analytics, and asset categorization pipelines.
- Quality Assurance & Verification: Validate building attributes, structural typologies, and urban density metrics across commercial, industrial, and mixed-use portfolios.
Candidate Qualifications
Academic Background
- Education: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in one of the following fields:
- Architecture (M.Arch, Ph.D.)
- Urban & Regional Planning (MUP, MCP, Ph.D.)
- Structural Engineering (M.S., M.Tech, Ph.D.)
- Building Construction / Construction Management (M.S., Ph.D.)
Technical & Industry Experience
- US Standards Exposure: Working knowledge of US building regulations, structural design philosophies, or municipal land-use frameworks (e.g., IBC, IRC, zoning codes, standard US commercial construction typologies).
- Focus Asset Classes: Primary experience in commercial (retail, office, healthcare) and industrial (warehouses, logistics hubs, light/heavy manufacturing) facilities. Familiarity with multi-family/single-family residential structures is an advantage.
- Data & GIS Proficiency: Hands-on experience working with geospatial software (ArcGIS, QGIS), spatial data analysis, or US public property registries (county assessor parcel layers, OpenStreetMap, national land cover data).
Pay: ₹500.00 - ₹1,000.00 per hour
