Role: Automation Engineer (Mid level)

Location: Hybrid (Wed/Thursday in office) - Hyderabad , India

Overview

Our customer is seeking a agile and detail-oriented Software Development Engineer in Test(SDET) with a passion for innovation and excellence in software testing with 4-7 Years of overall experience . The ideal candidate will be proficient in automation frameworks like Playwright, selenium and have hands-on experience with shell scripting, BDD framework, and possess a strong understanding of AWS services. The candidate will be responsible for testing both UI components , Backend, APIs, Batch jobs and automating end-to-end workflows, and contributing to process improvements and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Playwright, Selenium, and scripting technologies.

- Execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing activities.

- Validate web applications, backend services, APIs, databases, batch processing systems, and cloud resources.

- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure quality requirements are met.

- Create and maintain automated workflows to improve testing efficiency and coverage.

- Coordinate end-to-end testing efforts across multiple teams and products.

- Support CI/CD pipelines and integrate automated testing into deployment processes.

- Participate in code reviews and recommend improvements to quality, maintainability, and testability.

- Develop and maintain testing standards, documentation, runbooks, and best practices.

- Track test artefacts, defects,



and execution results using tools such as Jira and source control systems.

- Maintain test development tools, repositories, and release systems.

- Develop and maintain requirements traceability matrices.

- Identify, communicate, and escalate testing risks and project impediments.

- Perform manual testing when required.

- Innovate and recommend improvements that increase automation effectiveness and efficiency.

- All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

- 4+ years of QA automation experience.

- Strong programming experience using Java or Python.

- Strong shell scripting experience.

- Hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, or comparable automation frameworks.

- Experience testing APIs, backend services, and web-based applications.

- Experience working within Linux environments.

- Strong understanding of database querying and data validation.

- Working knowledge of AWS services.

- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins.

- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira and TestRail.

- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- AWS certification(s).

- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter.

- Knowledge of Docker or other containerization technologies.

- Exposure to security testing and accessibility testing practices.

- Experience working with ETL tools.

- Experience building solutions or prototypes that leverage Generative AI, LLMs, or APIs such as OpenAI.
