Role Description The Astronomy Outreach Expert is a full-time, on-site role based in -On Site location. The role involves leading engaging stargazing sessions, telescope-based observations, and solar viewing experiences for guests, students, and community groups. The expert will design and deliver astronomy workshops, STEM learning modules, and interactive sky shows, tailoring content to different age groups and knowledge levels.

Day-to-day responsibilities include explaining celestial phenomena in an accessible way, answering visitor questions,



supporting astrophotography sessions, and collecting feedback to improve programs. The role also includes collaborating with local partners, supporting dark sky conservation and advocacy activities, assisting with event logistics and equipment setup, and contributing to educational content and outreach materials.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess robust Communication and Writing skills to explain complex concepts clearly and create engaging educational and outreach content.
- Candidates should possess Customer Service and Community Outreach skills to interact empathetically with diverse audiences and build positive relationships with visitors and local stakeholders.
- Candidates should possess solid Research skills to stay updated on astronomical events, scientific developments, and best practices in experiential learning and outreach.
- Sound understanding of basic astronomy concepts, night sky navigation, and telescope operation; experience with public science communication or outreach is highly beneficial.
- Ability to present confidently to groups, work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and manage equipment safely in outdoor settings.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Physics, Astronomy, Science Education, STEM, or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience in astronomy outreach.
- Experience in tourism, education, or environmental/conservation initiatives is an advantage, along with familiarity with astrophotography and dark sky principles.
