Job Title: Assistant Professor – Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)
Department: Computer Science & Engineering / School of Computing
Reports To: Head of the Department (HOD) / Dean of the Faculty
Job Type: Full-time
Job Summary The Department of Computer Science & Engineering is seeking a highly motivated, academically driven, and qualified Assistant Professor to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to undergraduate (B.Tech) and postgraduate (M.Tech) students, spearheading impactful research, and contributing actively to institutional growth and departmental administration.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Teaching & Learning
- Curriculum Delivery: Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, practical laboratory sessions, and tutorials in core and advanced computer science domains.
- Course Development: Design and update course syllabi, lesson plans, and teaching materials in line with current industry trends and institutional guidelines.
- Student Assessment: Formulate, administer, and grade internal examinations, quizzes, assignments, and laboratory reports, ensuring timely and constructive feedback.
- Project Mentorship: Supervise undergraduate capstone projects and postgraduate dissertations, guiding students through software development, research methodologies, or system design.
- Modern Pedagogy: Integrate innovative teaching methodologies, including blended learning, case studies, coding platforms, and digital e-learning tools into classrooms.
2. Research, Innovation & Industry Connect
- Scholarly Publications: Conduct independent or collaborative research in specialized fields, aiming for publications in high-impact,
peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE) and top-tier international conferences.
- Funded Projects: Draft and submit research proposals to government and private funding bodies to secure external grants.
- Industry Collaboration: Foster relationships with technology companies to secure student internships, industrial visits, placements, and cooperative consultancies.
- Intellectual Property: Encourage innovation leading to patents, software copyright registrations, or product development.
3. Academic Administration & Service (approx. 15% of workload)
- Committee Participation: Serve on departmental and university-level committees dealing with curriculum design, examination boards, accreditation (such as NBA, NAAC, or ABET), and student affairs.
- Student Mentoring: Act as a faculty advisor/proctor to a designated cohort of students, offering academic counseling and career guidance.
- Event Coordination: Assist in organizing departmental seminars, hackathons, guest lectures, workshops, and faculty development programs (FDPs).
- Compliance: Maintain meticulous academic records, including student attendance logs, course files, and continuous evaluation records as required by regulatory bodies.
Core Areas of Specialization (Preferred)
Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following emerging domains will be given preference:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) / Deep Learning /Robotics
- Data Science & Big Data Analytics
- Cybersecurity, Cryptography, and Blockchain Tech
- Cloud Computing & Internet of Things (IoT)
- Full-Stack Software Development / Advanced Algorithms
Required Qualifications & Skills
Educational Background & Certifications
- Ph.D. and/or Master’s Degree: A Ph.D. or an M.E. / M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline from a recognized and accredited university. A consistently excellent academic record
- (typically a first-class or minimum 60% equivalent at graduation and post-graduation) is mandatory.
- National Certifications (Regional Context): Clearance of relevant national eligibility tests (e.g., GATE / NET / SET) is highly desirable or required based on institutional norms.
Professional Experience
- Freshers to experienced professionals: Prior experience in teaching at the tertiary level or substantial post-qualification industry/research experience is preferred.
- A proven track record of scholarly publications or software contributions.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Proficiency in contemporary programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, R, or JavaScript).
- Strong theoretical foundations in Data Structures, Algorithms, DBMS, Operating Systems, and Computer Networks.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English, dynamic presentation capabilities, strong classroom management, and a collaborative team spirit.
