Job Title: Assistant Manager Recent Product Introduction (NPI) Wiring Harness

Department: NPI / Engineering

Industry: Sheet Metal Manufacturing / Automotive / Electrical Systems

Reports To: NPI Manager / Engineering Manager

Job Summary The Assistant Manager – NPI (Wiring Harness) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing New Product Introduction (NPI) activities related to wiring harness assemblies integrated with sheet metal products. The role ensures smooth transition from design to production by coordinating with design, manufacturing, quality, production, supply chain, and customers while meeting quality, cost, and delivery targets.

Key Responsibilities

New Product Introduction (NPI)

- Lead NPI projects for wiring harness assemblies used in sheet metal products.
- Coordinate product development activities from RFQ to SOP (Start of Production).
- Review customer drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
- Plan prototype, pilot, and production build activities.
- Track project milestones and ensure on-time launch.

Engineering Coordination

- Coordinate with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Production, Purchase, and Suppliers.
- Review engineering changes (ECN/ECR) and implement changes effectively.
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) improvements.
- Ensure all engineering documents are released before production.

Wiring Harness Development

- Review wiring harness routing, connector selection, terminals, clips, and protection materials.
- Validate BOM accuracy and material specifications.
- Coordinate prototype harness development and testing.




- Ensure proper identification and traceability of components.

Process Development

- Develop assembly processes and work instructions.
- Coordinate tooling, fixtures, jigs, and testing equipment.
- Support PFMEA, Control Plan, and Process Flow preparation.
- Participate in APQP and PPAP activities.

Production Support

- Support trial builds, pilot production, and production ramp-up.
- Resolve manufacturing issues during new product launches.
- Monitor production readiness before SOP.
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions for launch-related issues.

Quality Assurance

- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
- Participate in FMEA reviews and risk assessments.
- Coordinate validation testing and product approval.
- Support customer and internal audits.

Supplier Development

- Coordinate with suppliers for new components and sample approvals.
- Monitor supplier readiness and delivery schedules.
- Resolve supplier quality and technical issues.

Documentation

- Maintain project timelines and status reports.
- Update BOMs, drawings, process documents, and change records.
- Ensure ERP/MRP data is accurate for new product launches.

Continuous Improvement

- Drive cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Improve assembly efficiency and reduce launch issues.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S activities.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 6–10 years of experience in NPI,



wiring harness manufacturing, automotive, or sheet metal industries.
- Experience in wiring harness assembly integrated with sheet metal products is preferred.
