Laboratory
Operations
- Manage daily laboratory operations and workflow across all assigned sections.
- Ensure timely processing, analysis, validation, and reporting of diagnostic samples.
- Monitor turnaround time (TAT) and take corrective action when targets are not achieved.
- Ensure proper sample collection, identification, transportation, processing, storage, and disposal.
- Coordinate with clinicians, phlebotomy, reception, and other departments to resolve operational issues.
2.
Quality
Management
- Implement and maintain laboratory quality management systems.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, quality control procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitor internal quality control (IQC) and external quality assurance/proficiency-testing activities.
- Investigate non-conformities, complaints, errors, and quality incidents and implement CAPA.
- Support laboratory accreditation and inspection requirements, including documentation and audit readiness.
3.
Staff
Management
- Supervise, train, and evaluate laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, and support staff.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
- Conduct training and competency assessments.
- Promote discipline, teamwork, professional conduct, and continuous improvement.
- Identify staffing and training requirements and communicate them to management.
4. Equipment & Inventory
- Ensure proper operation, maintenance, calibration, and servicing of laboratory equipment.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and breakdown resolution.
- Monitor inventory of reagents, consumables, PPE, and other laboratory supplies.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and minimize wastage and expiry.
- Coordinate with vendors and procurement teams when required.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with laboratory biosafety, infection-control, biomedical-waste-management, and occupational-safety procedures.
- Ensure appropriate use of PPE and secure handling of biological specimens and hazardous materials.
- Maintain records required for audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct or support incident reporting and corrective actions.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, SOPs, QC records, equipment records, and staff competency documentation.
- Prepare regular operational and performance reports for management.
- Monitor key laboratory indicators such as TAT, sample rejection, QC performance, repeat testing, complaints, and equipment downtime.
7. Customer & Clinical Coordination
- Address patient/customer complaints and laboratory-related queries professionally.
- Coordinate with doctors and clinical teams regarding critical results, test requirements, and reporting issues.
- Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of patient information.
