Description

Job Purpose To lead and manage the execution of the Battery Cell Manufacturing Project from project planning and technology implementation through equipment installation, commissioning, qualification, and production ramp-up. The role will be responsible for ensuring timely project execution, technical coordination, cost control, quality, safety, and operational readiness of the cell manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities 1.

Project

Planning &

- Execution

- Lead end-to-end execution of the battery cell manufacturing project.

- Develop project execution plans, milestones, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.

- Monitor project progress against approved schedules and identify deviations.

- Drive timely completion of project milestones from design and procurement through installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up.

- Establish project governance, review mechanisms, dashboards, and reporting systems.

2.

Cell Manufacturing

Technology

- Coordinate implementation of lithium-ion cell manufacturing processes and technologies.

- Develop understanding of major cell manufacturing processes such as:

- Electrode mixing

- Coating

- Drying

- Calendering

- Slitting

- Cell assembly

- Welding

- Electrolyte filling

- Formation

- Aging

- Testing and grading

- Ensure process equipment and infrastructure are aligned with the approved cell technology and production requirements.

3. Engineering &
- Equipment Installation

- Coordinate with Engineering, Technology Partners, EPC contractors, and equipment suppliers.

- Review equipment specifications, layouts, technical documents, and installation plans.

- Monitor equipment manufacturing, delivery, installation, commissioning, and qualification.





- Ensure utilities and infrastructure such as HVAC, dry rooms, compressed air, chilled water, power, fire protection, and other critical systems are available as per project requirements.

Technology

Transfer &

- Process Development

- Coordinate with technology partners for technology transfer and process implementation.

- Support development and validation of cell manufacturing processes.

- Ensure process parameters, SOPs, work instructions, and quality standards are established before mass production.

- Support process optimization to improve yield, productivity, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.

Production

Readiness &

- Ramp-Up

- Develop the production ramp-up strategy and ensure manufacturing readiness.

- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, utilities, processes, and quality systems before production commencement.

- Monitor trial production, pilot runs, process qualification, and mass-production readiness.

- Drive improvement in cell yield, OEE, throughput, cycle time, and rejection rates.

6. Quality &
- Process Excellence

- Work closely with Quality teams to establish cell quality parameters and inspection systems.

- Drive PFMEA, control plans, process audits, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.





- Monitor critical quality parameters across cell manufacturing processes.

- Ensure compliance with applicable battery, product safety, and manufacturing standards.

Project

Cost &

- Vendor Management

- Monitor project CAPEX and ensure expenditure remains within approved budgets.

- Manage key equipment suppliers, technology partners, contractors, and consultants.

- Conduct regular vendor reviews and track commitments, delivery schedules, and technical issues.

- Support commercial negotiations and resolution of project-related vendor issues.

8. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Work closely with:

- Engineering

- R&D;

- Manufacturing

- Quality

- Supply Chain

- Procurement

- Finance

- EHS

- HR

- IT/Automation

- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve project dependencies and execution challenges.

- Conduct regular project review meetings and present progress to senior management.

9. EHS &
- Regulatory Compliance

- Ensure implementation of EHS requirements throughout project execution.

- Ensure secure handling and storage of chemicals, electrolytes, solvents, and other hazardous materials.

- Coordinate implementation of fire protection, environmental controls, and emergency response systems.

- Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are incorporated into the project.

10. Team Leadership

- Lead and mentor the project engineering and execution team.

- Define responsibilities, deliverables, and performance objectives for team members.

- Build a high-performance project team capable of supporting commissioning and production ramp-up.

- Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
