Location: Ernakulam, Kerala (On-site)

Joining: Within 30 Days

ArchPro is looking for a Design Journalist to join our team in Kochi.

This is a people-facing, travel-intensive, editorial role for someone who is genuinely curious about architecture, interiors, people, places, and the stories behind the spaces they create.

You will be responsible for building relationships with architects and designers, discovering projects worth documenting, planning and executing project shoots, conducting in-depth interviews, shaping the story of each project, and working with our editorial and social media teams to bring that story to our audience.

About ArchPro

ArchPro is a project delivery company, the one accountable for getting it built as designed.

Projects are designed by the professionals; delivered by us. We run live residential and interior projects across multiple Indian cities, with our delivery operations anchored in Kochi.

Alongside our delivery work, ArchPro works with architects and designers across different markets to document their projects and tell the stories behind their work.

Role Overview

As a Design Journalist, you will own the journey from finding the right architect to bringing their work to our audience.

Your work will involve discovering architects and designers across India and international markets, understanding their work and design philosophy, building relationships with them, onboarding them to work with ArchPro, and understanding their projects for documenting.

You will then take responsibility for the documentation process, from planning the shoot and travelling to the project, to interviewing the architect and homeowner and working with the production and editing teams to ensure the final documentary captures the soul of the project.

This role requires someone who is highly curious, articulate, organized, comfortable travelling, confident speaking with people,

and capable of turning conversations and observations into meaningful stories.

Key Responsibilities

- Discover & onboard design partners - Find architects and interior designers, research their work, initiate conversations, and onboard suitable professionals to ArchPro.
- Explore new markets - Research new cities, regions, and countries to identify architects, designers, and projects worth building relationships with.
- Understand the work - Study each architect, their design philosophy, working style, and project before documentation.
- Plan project documentation - Coordinate with architects and homeowners, plan shoot schedules, prepare pre-production requirements, and coordinate with the shoot team.
- Travel & lead shoots - Travel to project locations and take ownership of the documentation process on site.
- Conduct in-depth interviews - Have meaningful conversations with architects and homeowners to understand the project's design, lifestyle, decisions, memories, challenges, and the people behind it.
- Shape the story - Identify the strongest stories and ideas from each project and translate them into a compelling documentary narrative.
- Guide the editorial process - Work closely with cinematographers and editors, provide story direction and feedback, and ensure the final documentary captures the character and soul of the project.
- Write & present projects - Develop project descriptions, editorial write-ups, interview-led content, captions, and other material needed to present the work to ArchPro's audience.

- Plan the content calendar - Maintain the project content pipeline and coordinate with the social media team to plan, schedule, and publish content across platforms.
- Maintain ArchPro standards - Ensure every documented project meets ArchPro's standards for storytelling, documentation, editorial quality, and presentation.

Requirements

- Strong interest in architecture, interiors, design, people, culture, travel, and storytelling.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Exceptional communication and interviewing skills.
- Strong ability to listen, understand people, and ask meaningful follow-up questions.
- Comfortable building relationships with architects, designers, homeowners, and creative professionals.
- Strong research and storytelling ability.
- Ability to understand design beyond its visual appearance.
- Solid organizational and project coordination skills.
- Comfortable travelling frequently for project shoots.
- Comfortable working with photographers, cinematographers, editors, and social media teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Familiarity with Instagram, YouTube, and digital content formats.
- Comfortable using AI and digital tools for research, planning, writing, and content workflows.

Qualification

- Degree in Architecture, Design, Media, or any related field.
- 0–4 years of relevant experience in journalism, editorial, architecture/design media, documentary production, content, or a related field.
- Experience conducting interviews and developing editorial or documentary content is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with architects, interior designers, photographers, filmmakers, or other creative professionals is an advantage.

Application

Interested candidates are requested to share their resume and portfolio or documentary work.

If you are curious about how people design, live, think, and create; and believe that every great project has a story worth discovering, we'd love to hear from you.
