We are seeking an experienced Architectural Lighting Designer to support architectural, hospitality, cultural, entertainment, and experiential projects. The ideal candidate combines strong technical lighting knowledge with a highly developed design sensibility and understands how light, color, material, form, and atmosphere work together to create a compelling architectural experience.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in architectural lighting design, including lighting concepts, fixture selection, lighting layouts, documentation, and visualization. Candidates whose experience is limited primarily to electrical/MEP lighting plans should not apply.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Architectural Lighting Designer to support U.S.-based architectural and interior design projects. The successful candidate will approach lighting as an integral part of the architectural experience, developing thoughtful lighting concepts and technical solutions that respond to space, materials, color, form, atmosphere, and function.
The role will involve developing lighting concepts and layouts, selecting appropriate fixtures, coordinating lighting with architectural and interior elements, preparing design documentation, and supporting presentations and visualization. The designer should be comfortable working independently while collaborating with architects, interior designers, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop architectural lighting concepts based on project requirements, architectural design intent, space, materials, and user experience.
· Prepare lighting layouts, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), fixture layouts, lighting diagrams, and lighting documentation.
· Select and recommend appropriate lighting fixtures, light sources, mounting types, color temperatures, beam angles, and lighting characteristics.
· Develop lighting schemes that balance functionality, aesthetics, ambience, energy efficiency, and architectural intent.
· Coordinate lighting design with architectural elements, ceilings, interiors,
furniture, finishes, millwork, and other building systems.
· Prepare lighting details, schedules, fixture specifications, and design documentation as required.
· Develop and present lighting concepts, diagrams, renderings, and visualizations for architect and client review.
· Use 3D modeling and visualization tools to communicate the intended lighting effect within architectural spaces.
· Review architectural drawings and coordinate lighting requirements with architectural, interior design, electrical, and MEP teams.
· Participate in design development and revise lighting solutions based on architect, client, and stakeholder feedback.
· Research lighting products, manufacturers, specifications, and applicable design standards.
· Support the project team through design development and documentation while maintaining consistency with the overall design intent.

Required Skills & Software
· Strong understanding of architectural lighting design principles.
· Experience developing lighting concepts and lighting layouts for architectural or interior projects.
· Ability to read and interpret architectural, interior, reflected ceiling, and electrical drawings.
· Strong understanding of fixture types, light sources, color temperature, beam angles, controls, and lighting applications.
· Experience with lighting calculations and/or photometric analysis.
· Proficiency with one or more relevant lighting-design tools such as DIALux, AGi32, Visual Lighting, or equivalent.
· Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
· Experience with SketchUp and/or other 3D modeling tools.
· Experience with rendering/visualization tools such as V-Ray, Enscape, Lumion, or equivalent.
· Strong visual and design sensibility, particularly in relation to materials, color, form, atmosphere, and spatial experience.
· Strong English communication skills and comfort working with U.S.-based project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Lighting Design, or a related discipline.
· 3 years of professional architectural lighting design experience.
· A portfolio demonstrating dedicated architectural lighting design is mandatory. Portfolios consisting primarily of architectural visualization, interior design, electrical layouts, or Revit/MEP documentation will not be considered.
· Experience with U.S.-based architectural, interior design, hospitality, cultural, entertainment, or experiential projects.
· Experience with lighting fixture selection, specifications, schedules, and manufacturer coordination.
· Familiarity with U.S. lighting standards, energy codes, and applicable building-code requirements.
· Experience coordinating lighting design with architectural and interior design teams.
· Experience preparing client-facing lighting presentations and design concepts.
· Experience with IES files, photometric studies, lighting calculations, and lighting controls is an advantage.

Important: Electrical Engineers / Electrical Designers whose experience is limited to preparing electrical or lighting plans without dedicated architectural lighting-design experience should not apply.

· Own laptop/workstation capable of efficiently running required design and visualization software.
· Reliable high-speed internet.
· Comfortable working 3:00 PM - 12:00 AM IST to support U.S.-based project teams.
· Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
