Job Title: Senior Analyst Direct Tax

About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and compliance-driven Senior Analyst – Direct Tax to support end-to-end direct tax operations within a Shared Services workplace of a leading Indian conglomerate. The role requires hands-on expertise across income tax computation and return filing, tax provisioning, tax audit, advance tax, TDS/TCS compliance, and assessment/litigation support, along with strong knowledge of the Income Tax Act and SAP experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare computation of total income and support filing of Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the relevant entities within statutory timelines.
- Compute current tax and deferred tax provisions, and support tax-related disclosures for financial statements and reporting.
- Support tax audit compliance, including preparation of Form 3CD details, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Compute and arrange for advance tax payments based on projected income, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support income tax assessments and litigation by preparing submissions, data, and documentation, and coordinating with consultants and tax authorities.
- Perform TDS/TCS reconciliation (books vs. returns vs. Form 26AS) and ensure timely correction of mismatches.
- Prepare and validate Form 15CA / 15CB documentation for foreign remittances, and assess TDS applicability on forex payments including treaty/withholding considerations.
- Ensure statutory compliance reporting and adherence to direct tax due dates across all applicable obligations.
- Compute Professional Tax and support periodic Professional Tax return filing across applicable states.
- Manage tax queries from business, finance,
and auditors, providing timely and accurate responses.
- Prepare MIS and tax dashboards covering compliance status, provisions, demands, and refunds.
- Adhere to SOPs, audit requirements, internal controls, and defined SLAs, and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced Shared Services environment, and provide guidance to junior team members.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate in Commerce/Accounting (B.Com) or equivalent; CA / Inter-CA / CMA preferred.
- 1–5 years of relevant experience in Direct Tax / corporate taxation / tax compliance.
- Strong understanding of the Income Tax Act, TDS/TCS provisions, tax provisioning (current and deferred), and tax audit requirements.
- Working knowledge of Form 15CA/15CB and withholding tax on foreign remittances.
- Mandatory hands-on experience working on SAP (FI); familiarity with tax filing utilities and TDS software preferred.
- Understanding of Indian statutory compliance and reporting requirements.
- Positive verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with good working knowledge of MS Excel.
- Experience working in Shared Services / GCC / large corporate environment preferred.
