Role Description The Accountant role is a full time, on-site position based in Chennai. The Accountant will manage day-to-day financial operations, including recording transactions, maintaining general ledgers, preparing invoices, and monitoring accounts payable and receivable.

Responsibilities include preparing monthly and annual financial statements, reconciling bank and account balances, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal policies. The role involves close collaboration with operations and commercial teams to track shipping-related revenues and costs,



assist with contract-related financial documentation, and support audits and internal controls. The Accountant will also contribute to process improvements and provide timely financial reports to management for decision-making.

Qualifications

- Robust skills in financial accounting and reporting, including general ledger management and preparation of financial statements.
- Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow tracking.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis, ideally within trading, logistics, or shipping-related environments.
- Ability to use accounting software and ERP systems; advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Solid understanding of applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Attention to detail, strong numerical aptitude, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Master degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CA, CMA, ACCA) are an advantage.
- Prior experience as an accountant or in a similar financial role; experience in shipping or trading industries is beneficial.
