About the Program

ProblemSolvers Lab (PSL) began with a straightforward idea: all students can engage in deep, higher- order thinking when they have the right environment and the right kind of mathematical experiences.

Across many classrooms in India, students rarely get opportunities to think aloud, explore structure, make conjectures, work with peers, or experience the satisfaction of figuring something out. PSL was created to bring these opportunities into everyday instruction.

Our work is grounded in a few design principles:

• Low-floor, high-ceiling tasks that allow every student to enter and stretch
• Productive struggle, where students test ideas, revise, and persist
• Seeing students as visualizers, experimenters, and problem-solvers, not passive recipients

Everything we do, with teachers and with students, rests on this approach.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Curriculum Designer to design and refine our problem solving curriculum. This role is about much more than writing lesson plans. It involves researching ideas, gathering insights from classrooms,



consulting with experts, and experimenting with creative ways to make problem-solving joyful and rigorous.

You will have the opportunity to learn deeply about curriculum and pedagogy while collaborating with a team passionate about mathematics, puzzles, games, and problem-solving. You will also get the experience of marrying your ideas with ground realities.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Research & Design
• Research mathematical problems, puzzles, and global practices to inform curriculum design
• Develop coherent modules with clear goals and progression across grades
• Write detailed, teacher-friendly lesson plans that anticipate student thinking and support rich classroom discussions
• Develop clear, accessible student handouts, manipulatives, and other learning materials
• Align lessons with grade-level mathematics while preserving the depth of PSL’s problem-solving approach.
