JOB SUMMARY
The Underwriting Manager is responsible for assessing client risk profiles, securing competitive terms from insurers, and ensuring smooth placement and issuance of policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate client risk profiles and prepare underwriting submissions for placement with insurers.
•
Obtain competitive quotes from multiple insurers and prepare comparative terms for clients. Negotiate premium rates, terms and conditions with insurers to secure optimal coverage for clients.
•
Coordinate with insurers for policy issuance, endorsements and renewals within agreed turnaround times.
•
Maintain underwriting records, MIS reports and market intelligence on insurer appetite and pricing trends.
•
Liaise with sales and servicing teams to align on client requirements and track market developments, new products and regulatory changes affecting underwriting.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
•
Graduate in any discipline (Commerce, Insurance, Risk Management or related field preferred); a diploma/certification in Insurance or Risk Management is an added advantage.
•
5 –6 years' experience in underwriting or insurance placement, preferably with a broking firm or insurance company.
KEY SKILLS
•
Solid understanding of insurance products, underwriting principles and IRDAI regulations.
•
Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills with insurers.
•
Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills.
•
Ability to manage multiple placements and renewals simultaneously against deadlines.
