Position Summary

The HOD for SID/Power Plant leads, directs, and manages the operations and maintenance (O&M;) of the Sponge Iron Kilns or the Captive Power Plant (CPP) to ensure maximum production, high operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Leadership & Production Management
- Target Achievement: Responsible for achieving daily, monthly, and annual production targets of Sponge Iron (DRI) or power generation (MW).
- Process Optimization: Monitor and optimize kiln operations, raw material input (iron ore, coal), temperature profiles,



and discharge quality to ensure high-grade DRI production.
- Power Plant Management: Manage boilers, turbine-generator (TG) sets, and auxiliary equipment for efficient power generation.
- Monitoring & Control: Oversee DCS (Distributed Control System) operations and coordinate with production, maintenance, and quality departments to ensure smooth flow.

2. Maintenance & Asset Management
- Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance: Direct planning and execution of preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance for heavy machinery (kilns, coolers, conveyors, crushers, turbines, boilers).
- Asset Life Cycle: Ensure maximum uptime of equipment, reducing breakdowns to improve reliability.
- Spares Management: Manage inventory of critical spares, consumables, and rapid-moving items to minimize downtime.
