Role Summary:

Build automation that helps athenahealth deliver reliable, high-quality software at scale. The Member of Technical Staff – Automation Engineer will develop and maintain automated test coverage across UI, API, and backend layers, and will use Claude and Codex agents and skills to help solve testing problems such as test generation, test data creation, and failure triage. This role is based in Chennai, India and follows a hybrid work model. The person in this role will collaborate with engineers, QA partners, and other stakeholders to deliver maintainable automation solutions using contemporary software development and AI-assisted testing practices. This position reports to the Senior Engineering Manager, Quality.
Team Summary:

Our Collector QA team is building new and evolving test automation capabilities for athenahealth customers. We work on solving complex quality and reliability problems for a broad set of stakeholders, including customers,



internal technology-enabled services teams, and multiple BPO vendors. Much of this work involves designing and implementing automated test coverage that validates large volumes of claim resolution workflows, with a focus on improving reliability, coverage, and release confidence.
These systems support quality validation that may be performed manually by QA partners or automated to improve overall test coverage and productivity. That means our team builds automation that exercises UI flows, validates API contracts, verifies backend data integrity, and creates a more efficient and reliable testing experience across revenue cycle operations. The engineering work often involves balancing test stability, coverage, maintainability, and evolving business needs across distributed systems.
