Job Description:

The job description for a Purchasing Officer involves acquiring necessary goods, materials, and services, evaluating vendors, negotiating contracts, and managing inventory to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely delivery for the organization, with specific responsibilities tailored to the industrial context of a power plant or an organization like SID.

Core Responsibilities
- Sourcing and Procurement: Identify, research, and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors (local and international) for raw materials, equipment, spare parts, and services required for power plant operations or SID's functions.
- Vendor Management: Develop and maintain robust relationships with vendors. This includes assessing supplier performance, conducting audits, and resolving issues related to quality, delivery, or discrepancies.
- Negotiation and Contracts: Compare and evaluate offers, negotiate contract terms, pricing, and service level agreements (SLAs) to secure the most favorable deals and achieve cost savings.
- Purchase Order (PO) Management: Prepare, issue,



and manage purchase orders accurately. Track orders, expedite urgent requirements, and ensure timely delivery to avoid operational delays.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure all purchased goods and services meet the required technical specifications, quality standards, and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., industry standards like ISO 9001).
- Inventory and Logistics Coordination: Monitor stock levels, collaborate with warehouse and planning teams to forecast demand, and manage the logistics of shipments, including customs and delivery to the final location.
- Cost Analysis and Reporting: Conduct cost analyses, manage budgets, track expenditures, and prepare reports on purchases, cost savings, and supplier performance for management review.
