Job Description:

A fitter is a skilled tradesperson who assembles, installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical components and systems in various industries, including manufacturing, construction, and heavy industry. Fitters interpret technical drawings, use a range of hand and power tools, and ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely. Their responsibilities include fabricating components, troubleshooting mechanical issues, conducting regular inspections, and maintaining machinery to prevent downtime and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly & Installation:

Assembling and installing machinery, mechanical systems, and structural components from raw materials.

Maintenance & Repair:

Performing routine and emergency maintenance on equipment, repairing malfunctioning parts, and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.

Fabrication:

Cutting, shaping, and fitting metal components to exact specifications using tools like grinders and cutting torches.

Inspection & Testing:





Inspecting fabricated parts and testing installed machinery to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.

Technical Interpretation:

Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand project requirements.

Tool & Equipment Operation:

Safely operating various hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.

Collaboration:

Working with engineers and other teams to optimize equipment performance and resolve technical issues.

Record Keeping:

Maintaining records of maintenance work, repairs, and equipment performance.
