Job Description:

An instrument technician installs, maintains, calibrates, and repairs instruments and control systems to ensure they operate accurately and efficiently. They diagnose and troubleshoot problems using test equipment, interpret technical drawings, and work with electrical and mechanical systems in various industries like manufacturing, energy, and healthcare. Key duties include performing preventive maintenance, repairing or replacing defective parts, and collaborating with engineers on system improvements.

Key responsibilities

Installation and setup:

Mount, wire, and test instrumentation and control equipment, including sensors, controllers, and other measurement devices.

Maintenance and repair:

Perform routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair or replace defective components to keep systems running.

Calibration:

Test and calibrate instruments and systems to ensure they are functioning within specified tolerances, using tools like HART and Fluke meters.

Troubleshooting:





Use technical knowledge and test equipment to identify and fix problems in electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, including PLCs and DCS systems.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including calibration details, repair logs, and test results.

Collaboration:

Work with engineers and other technicians to improve equipment performance, modify control loops, and assist with commissioning and startup activities.

Safety and compliance:

Follow all safety protocols and procedures, and ensure equipment is in compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.

Required skills and qualifications
