Role & responsibilities:
Identify, evaluate, and develop vendors for raw materials, fabricated items, castings, forgings, machined parts, and bought-out equipment.
Float enquiries, prepare comparative statements, and negotiate prices, delivery terms, and payment conditions.
Finalize purchase orders according to technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
Work closely with Engineering, QA/QC, and Production teams to understand material specifications and project schedules.
Ensure purchased materials comply with applicable codes and standards (ASME, IS, ASTM, DIN, etc.).
Coordination with inspection agencies and vendors for stage and final inspections.
Maintain approved vendor list and evaluate vendor performance on cost, quality, and delivery.
Resolve vendor-related issues including delays, quality deviations, and shortages.
Develop alternate vendors to reduce dependency and risk.




Achieve cost reduction through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and negotiations.
Ensure procurement is within approved budgets and project cost targets.
Monitor market trends for steel, alloys, and critical engineering materials.
Track material delivery schedules and ensure timely availability at site/factory.
Coordinate with stores and logistics for material receipt and inventory control.
Maintain purchase records, MIS reports, and documentation according to ISO procedures.
Follow company procurement policies and statutory requirements.
Ensure proper documentation for audits and internal controls.
Use SAP systems for procurement activities.
