Applications are invited for the post of Project Scientist I-Biomedical Engineer (Hardware Software) for the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) funded IIRP project in the Centre for Biomaterials, Cellular and Molecular Theranostics (CBCMT), at Vellore.

Qualification
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Biomedical, Electronics and Communications, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline, from a recognised institution.
- A minimum of two (2) years of skilled or research experience in the design and development of biomedical devices, scientific or precision instrumentation.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience across hardware AND software, evidenced by devices, prototypes, publications, patents or code repositories the candidate can defend in interview.
- Age limit as per ICMR and funding-agency norms, with relaxation for reserved categories as per Government of India rules.
Hardware Engineering
- 3D CAD modelling and preparation of 2D engineering drawings (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, Inventor or equivalent).
- Analog and digital circuit design, schematic capture and PCB layout (KiCad, Altium, Eagle or equivalent).
- Practical bench skills - soldering and rework,
oscilloscope, multimeter and bench power supply - and systematic debugging: isolating a fault to a subsystem and proving the diagnosis.
- Sensor selection, signal conditioning and integration; prototyping by 3D printing and machining; mechanical assembly and alignment.
Software and Programming
- Strong programming ability in Python, including NumPy and the scientific computing stack.
- Practical image processing and computer vision with OpenCV - thresholding and adaptive segmentation, morphological operations, contour detection and measurement, and object tracking.
- Embedded programming in C/C++ or MicroPython on a microcontroller platform (Arduino, STM32, ESP32 or similar).
- Competence on Linux, including the command line and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi; Git, and the discipline to write readable, documented, maintainable code.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Working knowledge of deep learning for computer vision, with the practical ability to train, fine-tune and evaluate a model end to end - not only to call a pre-trained one.
