Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced LAN & Wi-Fi Architect for our client, one of the top 5 largest banks in the world. The role will provide architecture and design expertise to ensure the client’s global LAN/Wi-Fi infrastructure is standardized, scalable, secure, resilient and aligned with business and technology requirements. Strong hands-on experience in designing large-scale, multi-site enterprise LAN and Wi-Fi networks on Cisco and/or Juniper Mist platforms is highly preferred. Experience with predictive and in office Wi-Fi design (Ekahau), 802.1X/NAC and campus switching architectures will be an advantage. The ideal candidate should be able to own the design lifecycle end to end, from assessment and strategy through technology certification, design approval and engineering governance, acting as the technical authority for Operations and Implementation teams.
Key Responsibilities – Design Assessment & Strategy
- Assess the existing LAN/Wi-Fi design and develop new, standardized design architecture (HLD/LLD).
• Identify design gaps, risks, dependencies and opportunities for standardization.
• Define reference architectures, design standards and configuration templates for global sites.
• Support technology refresh, migration and transformation initiatives.
• Engage with the Operations team on existing design issues to drive service improvements.
• Perform wireless RF design, coverage validation and capacity planning for new and existing sites.
Technology & Hardware Certification
- Evaluate, certify and maintain new APs, switches and networking hardware/software.
• Conduct technical assessment and interoperability validation with existing infrastructure.
• Perform Proof of Concept (PoC) / lab validation where required.
• Assess firmware/software releases and provide upgrade recommendations.
• Maintain the certified hardware and software baseline (approved models, versions and golden configurations).
• Track vendor roadmaps, end-of-life/end-of-support notices and security advisories.
Architecture Governance & Support
- Review and approve technical designs and implementation approaches.
• Provide engineering guidance to Operations and Implementation teams.
• Support complex technical escalations and design-related problem resolution.
• Ensure adherence to global architecture, security and configuration standards.
• Participate in change advisory reviews for design-impacting changes.
• Maintain architecture documentation, design standards, network diagrams and knowledge articles.
Deep knowledge of L2/L3 switching and routing (VLANs, STP, LACP, OSPF/BGP), wireless standards (802.11ac/ax/be across 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz) and network access security (802.1X, RADIUS, NAC, WPA3) is required. Experience with Juniper EX, Mist Wired Assurance and Access Assurance, and network automation (Python, Ansible, REST APIs) will be an added advantage. Banking experience will be preferred.
Preferred Certifications
CCIE/CCNP Enterprise, JNCIP/JNCIE, CWDP/CWNE, Ekahau ECSE, TOGAF or ITIL Foundation.
