Role & responsibilities

- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients requiring general surgical care.
- Perform minor, major, elective, and emergency surgical procedures as per expertise and hospital privileges.
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and ensure appropriate patient preparation.
- Provide comprehensive post-operative care and monitor recovery.
- Manage surgical emergencies and coordinate with the Emergency, ICU, and other relevant departments.
- Review diagnostic reports and determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Counsel patients and their attendants regarding diagnosis, treatment, procedures, risks, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient management.
- Follow hospital protocols, infection-control practices, surgical safety standards, and applicable medical guidelines.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives, and CME/academic activities.
