Role & responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Platform Engineers, and SREs.
- Define and execute the organizations cloud strategy, architecture, and engineering roadmap.
- Design and maintain scalable, secure, highly available, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Drive cloud adoption, migration, modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Establish Infrastructure as Code standards using Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or equivalent technologies.
- Lead the design and operation of Kubernetes and containerized cloud environments.
- Build and improve CI/CD and GitOps pipelines for automated application and infrastructure delivery.
- Establish cloud security, IAM, networking, governance, compliance, and access-control standards.
- Drive cloud cost optimization and FinOps initiatives while maintaining performance and reliability.
- Define and implement monitoring, observability, logging, alerting, and incident-management practices.
- Establish and maintain high availability, disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and resilience strategies.
- Partner with Software Engineering, Security, Data, Architecture, Product, and Finance teams on cloud initiatives.
- Review and approve cloud architecture, infrastructure designs, technology choices, and engineering standards.
- Lead resolution of critical infrastructure incidents and drive root-cause analysis and preventive improvements.
- Automate cloud provisioning, configuration, deployments, scaling, and operational processes.
- Evaluate new cloud services and technologies and assess their technical and business value.
- Monitor cloud platform performance, capacity, availability, security, and cost metrics.
- Mentor engineers, support career development, and establish a culture of automation, reliability, security, and engineering excellence.
- Manage cloud engineering projects, budgets, vendors, timelines, and cross-functional dependencies.
Preferred candidate profile
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, SRE, or related fields, including technical/team leadership experience.
- Strong expertise in at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP; multi-cloud experience is an advantage.
- Deep hands-on experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Ansible, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, compute, storage, databases, load balancing, DNS, IAM, and security.
- Experience designing and operating highly available, scalable, fault-tolerant, and production-grade cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, GitOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, or equivalent technologies.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting/programming languages for automation.
- Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, API gateways, service mesh, containers, and system design.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK/OpenSearch, CloudWatch, Datadog, or equivalent observability tools.
- Robust knowledge of SRE principles, SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, incident management, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Experience with cloud security, IAM, secrets management, vulnerability management, compliance, and governance.
- Strong understanding of cloud cost management, FinOps, resource optimization, and capacity planning.
- Experience leading cloud migrations, application modernization, or large-scale infrastructure transformation is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop Cloud/DevOps/Platform/SRE teams.
- Strong system-design, problem-solving, communication, project-management, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to balance performance, reliability, security, scalability, developer experience, and cloud cost.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline; Master's degree is a plus.
- Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect, CKA/CKS, or Terraform are advantageous.
