Role & responsibilities
- Own and drive credit risk analytics and portfolio risk management across the lending lifecycle, from acquisition and underwriting through disbursement, servicing, and collections.
- Develop and monitor portfolio risk frameworks, risk appetite indicators, early-warning triggers, and credit performance metrics to proactively identify emerging risks and portfolio deterioration.
- Track and analyze FPD, DPD, roll rates, delinquency, vintage performance, bounce rates, write-offs, credit losses, approval/rejection rates, and risk-adjusted returns.
- Drive portfolio segmentation and cohort analysis across customer, product, geography, channel, ticket size, bureau, income, and other risk dimensions to identify trends, concentration risks, and growth opportunities.
- Partner with Risk & Analytics teams to enhance scorecards, risk segmentation, underwriting strategies, policy rules, cut-offs, decision engines, and portfolio monitoring frameworks.
- Translate business objectives into data-driven credit strategies, balancing growth, customer acquisition, approval rates, portfolio quality, profitability, and risk appetite.
- Conduct portfolio deep-dives, root-cause analysis, forecasting, stress testing, and scenario analysis to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Establish early-warning systems and portfolio triggers to enable timely interventions across sourcing, underwriting, pricing, credit policy, and collections.
- Partner with Business, Product, Finance, Collections, Risk, Analytics, and Engineering teams to evaluate new products, segments, channels, campaigns,
and business strategies from credit-risk and profitability perspectives.
- Build and maintain MIS, dashboards, portfolio scorecards, and management reporting to provide actionable insights on portfolio health and business performance.
- Drive automation of risk decisioning, portfolio monitoring, controls, and analytics solutions in partnership with Product and Engineering.
- Ensure strong governance around data quality, credit policy implementation, risk controls, audit readiness, and applicable RBI requirements.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve portfolio quality, credit losses, risk-adjusted returns, operational efficiency, and business performance.
- Present portfolio insights, risk trends, and strategic recommendations to senior management and business leadership.
- Mentor and develop risk/analytics professionals, fostering analytical rigor, ownership, and data-driven decision-making.
Experience & Qualifications
- 3-6 years of experience in Credit Risk Analytics, Portfolio Risk, Credit Strategy, Underwriting Analytics, or Lending Risk, with at least 3 years in an NBFC, fintech lender, retail bank, or digital lending environment.
- Strong experience in consumer/retail unsecured lending,
with STPL (Straight-Through Personal Loans) and/or Personal Loans (PL) experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in portfolio monitoring, segmentation, vintage/cohort analysis, delinquency, roll rates, early-warning indicators, credit losses, and portfolio performance analysis.
- Strong understanding of bureau data, underwriting, credit policies, risk appetite, scorecards, risk segmentation, decision engines, and credit strategies.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect credit risk, growth, customer acquisition, profitability, and portfolio economics.
- Experience collaborating with Business, Product, Collections, Finance, Risk, Data Science, and Engineering teams.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and advanced Excel; hands-on experience with Python/R and Power BI/Tableau preferred.
- Familiarity with LOS/LMS, bureau platforms, decision engines, risk dashboards, and lending analytics platforms.
- Understanding of RBI regulations, credit risk governance, model/policy governance, operational risk, audit frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to perform portfolio deep-dives, root-cause analysis, identify risk trends, and translate insights into actionable risk/business recommendations.
- Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder-management, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior management.
- Ability to operate effectively in a high-growth, data-driven lending setting and manage multiple strategic and analytical initiatives.
