Job Description Academic Counsellor

Job SummaryWe are looking for a motivated and student-focused Academic Counsellor to guide students in selecting suitable academic programs, courses, and career pathways. The ideal candidate should have strong communication and counselling skills, understand students’ educational needs, and be able to build positive relationships with students and parents.

- Key ResponsibilitiesCounsel students and parents regarding academic programs, courses, admissions, and career options.
- Understand students’ educational backgrounds, interests, goals, and requirements.
- Provide accurate information about courses, eligibility criteria, fees, curriculum, and career opportunities.
- Follow up with prospective students through calls, WhatsApp, email, and other communication channels.
- Convert enquiries and leads into admissions while maintaining a student-first approach.
- Maintain regular communication with students throughout the admission process.
- Achieve assigned counselling and admission targets.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, follow-ups, and admissions in CRM or other systems.
- Conduct one-to-one counselling sessions, webinars, seminars, and orientation sessions when required.
- Coordinate with the admissions, academic, and operations teams to ensure a smooth student journey.
- Address students’ and parents’ queries and resolve concerns professionally.
- Stay updated on courses, educational trends, admission processes, and career opportunities.




- Prepare regular reports on counselling activities, leads, follow-ups, and conversions.
- Required SkillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and counselling skills.
- Ability to understand students’ needs and provide appropriate guidance.
- Good presentation and negotiation skills.
- Solid follow-up and relationship-management abilities.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office, Google Workspace, CRM, or similar tools.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Target-oriented and organized approach.
- QualificationsBachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- A degree or diploma in Education, Psychology, Counselling, Management, or a related field is an advantage.
- Prior experience in academic counselling, admissions, education sales, or student support is preferred.

Experience0–3 years of relevant experience. Freshers with strong communication and interpersonal skills may also be considered.
