Overview
The Windows + Devices Fundamentals team improves the reliability, performance, responsiveness, battery life, memory efficiency, and overall health of Windows devices. We build and operate the services, telemetry systems, and data pipelines that transform signals from labs and the installed base into trustworthy metrics, actionable diagnostics, and measurable engineering improvements.
We are seeking a self-driven Software Engineer II to design and deliver data-driven systems that reveal how Windows devices behave at scale. You will independently own well-scoped backend services and data pipelines, investigate product-health signals, and deliver improvements that advance Windows Fundamentals across devices, silicon, and customer segments.

Responsibilities
• Define and implement well-scoped Windows Fundamentals metrics, queries, cohort strategies, and measurement workflows across reliability, performance, responsiveness, power, battery life, memory, and storage.
• Design, build, deploy, and operate reliable backend services and data pipelines for telemetry ingestion, transformation, orchestration, storage, health monitoring, diagnostics, and engineering workflows.
• Apply and improve engineering practices for service reliability, security, compliance, observability, data quality, schema evolution, deployment safety, incident response, and operational support.
• Analyze large-scale telemetry, diagnostic signals, and traces to identify trends, anomalies, regressions, causal factors, and customer impact.
• Independently investigate metric movements and service issues using statistical meth
