Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled CAD Engineer responsible for day-to-day product and fabrication drawings, 2D/3D modelling, preparation of production drawings, and nesting/program preparation for laser cutting machines. The candidate will work closely with production, fabrication, bending and powder-coating teams to ensure designs are accurate, practical and production-ready.

Key Responsibilities1. AutoCAD Designing

- Prepare accurate 2D fabrication and production drawings using AutoCAD.
- Create detailed drawings with dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and fabrication requirements.
- Modify existing drawings based on customer or production requirements.
- Convert customer drawings/PDFs into production-ready CAD drawings.

2. SolidWorks / 3D Designing

- Create 3D models, assemblies and sheet-metal designs using SolidWorks.
- Develop new products and improve existing designs.
- Prepare sheet-metal flat patterns and manufacturing drawings.
- Check design feasibility considering laser cutting, bending, welding and assembly processes.

3. Laser Cutting – Nesting

- Prepare DXF files and nesting layouts for CNC laser cutting machines.
- Optimize material utilization and minimize scrap.
- Ensure correct material thickness, quantity, orientation and part identification.




- Coordinate with the laser machine operator/programmer to resolve cutting-related issues.
- Maintain proper records of nesting files and revisions.

4. Production Support

- Coordinate daily with production, laser cutting, bending, welding and assembly teams.
- Clarify drawing-related issues on the shop floor.
- Make design modifications based on manufacturing requirements.
- Ensure drawings released for production are accurate and error-free.

5. Documentation & Control

- Maintain proper control of CAD drawings, 3D models, DXF files and revisions.
- Follow standardized drawing and file-naming procedures.
- Maintain a database of frequently used components and designs.
- Ensure the latest approved drawing is used for production.
- Required SkillsStrong knowledge of AutoCAD 2D.
- Positive working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D.
- Experience in sheet-metal design and fabrication.
- Knowledge of laser cutting and nesting software.
- Understanding of bending, welding and fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of material thickness, bend allowance, bend deduction and K-factor will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and basic computer applications.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Preferred CandidateDiploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in sheet-metal fabrication, laser cutting or engineering manufacturing.
- Candidates with hands-on shop-floor experience will be preferred.
- Should be able to independently handle daily design requirements and production drawings.
