Job Overview
MIT School of Engineering & Sciences invites applications from passionate, well-qualified educators and industry practitioners for the position of Visiting Faculty in Mathematics. The candidate will be responsible for teaching foundational and advanced Engineering Mathematics courses across undergraduate (B.Tech) and postgraduate (M.Tech/M.Sc.) programs. The role emphasizes conceptual clarity, real-world engineering applications, continuous assessment, and active engagement with students in alignment with the outcome-based education (OBE) model followed at MIT ADT University.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Pedagogy
- Deliver engaging lecture sessions and tutorials in subjects such as Engineering Mathematics (Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Complex Variables), Discrete Mathematics, Numerical Methods, and Probability & Statistics.
- Contextualize mathematical concepts to real-world engineering, data science, and technology applications.
- Adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning needs, integrating ICT tools, interactive problem-solving, and software tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, SciLab) where applicable.
2. Curriculum & Course Management
- Prepare comprehensive lesson plans, lecture notes,
assignment sheets, and tutorial modules in alignment with the University's syllabus and credit structure.
- Map course outcomes (COs) with program outcomes (POs) according to NAAC/NBA outcome-based education guidelines.
3. Assessment & Evaluation
- Design, conduct, and grade mid-term tests, quizzes, assignments, end-semester examination papers, and re-examinations in a timely manner.
- Maintain transparent, accurate academic records, including class attendance, internal continuous evaluation scores, and course files.
4. Student Mentorship & Support
- Conduct dedicated doubt-solving sessions and provide academic guidance to students.
- Mentor students on project-based learning involving mathematical modeling or statistical analysis.
Qualifications & Eligibility
Essential Qualifications
- Master’s Degree: M.Sc. in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade).
- National Level Eligibility: Valid NET / SET qualification or Ph.D. degree in Mathematics (in accordance with UGC regulations).
Preferred Qualifications & Specializations
- Ph.D. in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Computational Mathematics (completed or pursuing near thesis submission).
- Expertise in engineering-focused domain areas such as:
- Linear Algebra & Vector Calculus
- Differential Equations & Transform Techniques
- Probability, Random Processes & Applied Statistics
- Discrete Mathematics & Graph Theory
- Numerical Analysis & Optimization Techniques
Professional Experience
- Teaching Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of academic teaching experience at the undergraduate level in an engineering or technical university setting.
- Industry / R&D; Exposure: Experience in applied mathematics, data analytics, or computational modeling in industry or research organizations will be an added advantage.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Excellent command over subject matter with an ability to simplify complex abstract mathematical theories.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Proficiency in digital classroom platforms, learning management systems (LMS), and educational tools.
- Familiarity with mathematical software (MATLAB, Python, R, or Mathematica) is highly desirable.
- Robust professional ethics, punctuality, and commitment to the academic schedule.
Remuneration & Engagement Terms
- Compensation: Paid on a per-lecture / hourly credit basis, as per MIT ADT University norms and candidate qualifications/experience.
- Duration: Semester-bound contract, renewable based on requirement and performance evaluation.
